Thanks. That sounds like most of bow hunting in CO-- really tough.

Thanks a lot. I hope you do get a chance to use your magnacut this year!steelbuckeye wrote: ↑Sat Nov 11, 2023 9:26 pmAwesome job, looks like a great shot! I’ve used my magnacut mule on two deer last year so far and it worked well. Hopefully I’ll use it on another here soon this year.

Field dressed entire elk with PMA11 Mule! (graphic)
Shot this cow elk with my 50 cal muzzleloader at about 180 yards. It was about 5:00, so I knew I'd be skinning and quartering her mostly in the dark. I proved that PMA11 steel holds a VERY sharp edge for a LONG time. Even though I skinned the cow, filleted the backstraps away from the ribs, then sep...

Re: My 1st Spyderco folder (SS Stretch K390 content)
Congrats. I went back and forth between the Stretch and the Endela. Finally settled on the Endela and it hasn't left my pocket since. Between the knife design and blade steel, it turned out to be the perfect EDC. I bet you end up feeling the same way about your Stretch. Both knives are awesome and ...

Re: My 1st Spyderco folder (SS Stretch K390 content)
Not only does it have good edge retention, but it's got good razor sharp edge retention. This knife exudes function. It always makes pocket time, except when I need a smaller knife for lightweight shorts. Exactly. Originally, my dream knife steel was CPM110V, but merely holding a "working edge...

Re: My 1st Spyderco folder (SS Stretch K390 content)
I’m pretty new to the stretch as well…just got mine in recently. The thing I’ve started to notice is that the clip implementation is basically “perfect” on this knife. If you have average hands like mine and you’re using the choil, your hand rests in the spoon. Behind the choil and your hand rests ...

My 1st Spyderco folder (SS Stretch K390 content)
Well, I finally did it. Not my first Syderco--that was this https://forum.spyderco.com/viewtopic.php?f=15&t=81266 PMA11 Mule build. But I've been eyeing the Stretch for years, primarily as a backup hunting knife. Then Sal put out these Straight Spine K390 versions and I finally bit the bullet. I...

Re: Kydex sheath build for Mule with photo tutorial
Very nice. I had meant to thank you earlier. You have shown me enough to get me wanting to try my hand. Much appreciated. Nice work! Thanks Tom! Glad I inspired. I hope you get on it--just do it! I know you said I should get a Spyderco folder, too, and I really want one. I'm especially interested i...

Kydex sheath build for Mule with photo tutorial
Well as promised in this thread about my PMA11 Mule build http://www.spyderco.com/forumII/viewtopic.php?t=81359 , here is my photo tutorial of my kydex sheath build. First, I applied three layers of packing tape to each side of the blade so that the kydex would be less likely to scratch the blade. h...

Great job! I have the same mule waiting for my lazy @$$ to make some scales Just do it! Way to go azdon! You done good. Watch out, it can be habit forming. I started making my own micarta and using fancy hardwood. Maybe I will try bolsters some day. Now that's hardcore! Well done mate! Just receive...

Mule Team 26 PMA11 custom handle build with illustrated tutorial
Thought I'd post a little montage and describe how I did this, my first Mule (and first Syderco). I ordered a set of 1/8" olive drab green canvas micarta scales from ebay. My design is for a fairly lightweight hunting/skinning knife. I first traced the knife outline onto one scale. https://euu2...

Re: My 1st Spydie: Mule Team 26 PMA11 edge porn (20X loupe, too)
Love my PD#1 mule! Although I did buy the G10 scales and G-clip with it I plan to make up a few different style handles just to get some practice and probably pick up a few mules like your PMA11. I really appreciate Sal and the spyderco team on doing these mules. Wish I would have known about these...

Re: My 1st Spydie: Mule Team 26 PMA11 edge porn (20X loupe, too)
I have a collection of mules that I have made handles for. My advice and best practice is: 2 handle pins is much easier to line up than 3 or more. You can attach the he slabs and sand paper or coping saw won’t hurt it. Have fun. You can do it. Thanks for the advice. I am planning on two pins and tu...
