Sharpmaker stone angle

I've got a fully serrated Pacific Salt and a 1/2 serrated Endura. So I don't have to mess the serrations up experimenting, when it comes time to hit the serrations with my Sharpmaker I was wondering which angle should I use, the 40° or 30°? Thanks for any advice.

" I’m not trying to make anything new guys. I just thought having a knife “Factory sharpened” was the right thing to do. I saw a few on eBay like that." I agree, you're not trying to misrepresent like it's new, just trying to show that with a quality factory sharpening, nobody has done a c...

Re: China and tariffs

I'm sure no authority on international economics, but I sure don't agree with the tariff deal. Factory reps from agricultural tractors on down are preaching against the tariffs. A month or so back a person high up in the UNITED STATES steel industry was pitching a fit because he said something like ...

Re: Figured out why I prefer g10 scales

I'm partial to the G10's too. I know it's apples to oranges, but I've got an aftermarket set on one of my 1911s from this company. Classy and functional.

Re: Would You Buy a Blue Handled Spyderco?

I believe Doc Dan has been championing this color/cause (re: prostate cancer) for a few years now. I am definitely in depending on the model and steel. If a person does some research, according to most doctors and stats, prostrate cancer is WAY more prevalent than breast cancer but as a doctor stat...

Re: What a great tool a knife is. “PICS”

Curious to hear from those who frequently need to use knives during their day job... You guys don't have a problem using your personal property for work use, especially when it might be considered hard use? I do understand that these are quality knives and are meant to be used, but I think if I was...

Re: Taxes on online knife purchase

You got it. Online retailers can collect tax now. It's a requirement. Basically, state governments (mostly California, actually) pushed it through so they could collect tax from companies like eBay and Amazon, because they felt that they were losing out on a lot of sales tax revenues that they felt...

Great thorough and interesting review. Especially the link to the dis-assembled one. Due to the lighter weight, what I'd REALLY like to find is an Embassy but they seem rare as hen's teeth.

you're lucky you didn't slice a tendon :O
That was my first thought, there's got to be some tendons there otherwise we couldn't straighten out our fingers.

Re: Getting serrations cut into a plain edge knife?

"One problem I would have doing it myself is how would you keep the steel cool?" Seems like you'd have to rig up something that cooled with soluble cutting oil with a nozzle over the work like certain lathes, mechanical hacksaws, etc. Even then, I bet a person wouldn't want to be too aggre...

Hi JD,

The market is pretty saturated.

sal
That's for sure plus it would be hard to surpass the quality of any of the good old Leatherman models. Seems like in their own multi tool niche they have the same good rep as Spyderco does in its knives.

Hope you heal up quick and with no problems. Small comfort, but at least you can say you weren't being careless. An oddball accident like that could happen to anyone.
I wonder how often an auto gets caught mid-shipment and what repercussions the buyer has to deal with... It would really be unfortunate to spend $600 on a auto to have it confiscated and looking at federal charges. Eek
One way to cut back on liability if you’re concerned is to have...

Re: Pivot Material

Hard to say, I'm no knife authority, but I learned long ago when I was young from our shop machinist (practically a genius when it came to metals) that a steel shaft rotating within a bronze bushing will show less wear of BOTH metals over the long run compared to steel against steel. That's been pro...
