The blade of this elite knife is precision machined from CPM® S35VN, a martensitic stainless steel designed to offer improved toughness over CPM S30V. Its unique chemistry promotes the formation of niobium carbides along with vanadium and chromium carbides, making it about 15-20% tougher than CPM S30V without any loss of wear resistance. The PlainEdge™ blade features a full-flat grind for low-friction cutting performance and Spyderco's signature Trademark Round Hole™ for swift, ambidextrous one-handed opening. To eliminate reflection in environments where light discipline is a concern, the blade also boasts a stealthy black Diamond-Like Carbon (DLC) coating.

The other defining feature of this knife is its handle, which showcases textured, brown G-10 scales. Skeletonized stainless steel liners nested within the scales form the foundation of the knife's unique Compression Lock™ mechanism—a patented lock that offers extreme strength and safe, convenient, one-handed operation.
