It is my favorite edc. I am trying out new knives now, but I miss it every day. I like the 3.5 also, but the 3 seems to serve my purposes well enough and is a more widely accepted blade length. Unless it is 50% more than the original MSRP, I say it is a knife worthy of the cost!

Absolutely buy this knife, if you can find it for a decent price it is my favorite 3 inch blade hands down...it just possess a certain elegance and sophistication not found in many of todays designs; it can achieve screaming sharpness! Buy, buy, buy....

I want one, not sure why I haven't got one, but then not sure how often I'd carry it. I love the model, I'm sure I'd love the steel, but there are other knives I'd carry first.

Guess it depends on the price. I picked one up a couple of months ago LNIB for $150. I love the knife and use it all the time but I don't think I'd pay much more than that for one.

I use mine in the kitchen a lot and a nice even patina formed almost immediately.

That's the thing. I mainly carry smaller spydies like the g10 manbug, dragonfly, cricket, or small traditionals. I'd get the caly to pretty much fondle and oooo and ahhh at the SB blade. Hence why I'm debating it. Very expensive for a knife I wouldn't really use but it's so pretty and exclusive and want it!

Well, if this helps, the caly carries very small for its size. That's one reason it has won so much pocket time with me. It's really a superb design. I say shop around and if you find a good deal then jump on it. If not then you can always grab one of the frn offerings in sb.

I have one and it is my favorite folding knife by some margin. The handle ergonomics on the Caly 3 suit me perfectly, and Spyderco's super blue sprint runs are literally the only production one-handed opening, locking folding knives made with small-carbide, high-edge stability steel with a decent heat treatment.

The balance of high ease of sharpening with fairly high edge retention and very high edge stability at low primary bevel angles super blue gives is pretty hard to beat. I run all my Spyderco SBs at 12dps primary bevel and 15 dps microbevels without any durability issues, and have no trouble getting them sharp enough to true pushcut newsprint (both with and against the grain).

I also recently acquired an SB delica, and while i really like it, I have to say I like the feel of G10 and the look of the unlaminated blade of the Caly 3 better.

Also, a couple of pics I posted in the "What Spyderco are you carrying today?" thread:

I think the factory edge on mine is why I can't warm up to it. Carried it this morning and used it for fruit duty at breakfast but swapped it out when I got home at lunch for my 20CP Para2. Can't quite put my finger on why it's not with me more often.

Very good chance, since the Caly is thinner behind the edge than the Para, and once sharpened thinner it will no doubt be the better slicer of the two.

The patina develops quickly, especially if you cut food.

Get it, solid superblue is quite unique for a folder.

This is not always the case, my M390 PM2 is thinner behind the edge than my SB Caly. My ZDP Caly is nice and thin though.

Really?? Did you have it reground? I would have figured a pm2 would always be thicker behind the edge given the thicker blade stock and similar grinds.

Nope no regrind... I guess I just got lucky with the blue PM2. My 20CP PM2 is also very thick.

This just reminds me I need to stop buying more knives and start sending a few for regrinds...
