It's not 204p. I believe it's a new steel. (not used before). Not sure on a shipping date yet.

Ooh this is exciting! Does this mean new to Spyderco knives, or new to knives in particular? Is 4V still in the works?

Every time one is announced I get all excited and think I'll buy one but I never do. I had a deal pending on the K390 mule but never got the funds because my Mustang is a money hog. I also don't use fixed blades enough to really need one but they still appeal to me. There are quite a few past mules I would love to own and love to see another run of.

So what are the most probable steels? 4v, Maxamet (), 9v, 10v, 15v, K294? Or maybe some Japanese steels?

I don't use a fixed blade very often except around the acreage, and I was lucky enough to snag a used K390 Mule. The hardest job it's seen thus far was cutting the drain hose for the new washing machine we have so it would fit into the drain pipe in the wall behind the washing machine...rigid black plastic hose too. The K390 push cut through it with fairly minimal force and this thing STILL doesn't need a sharpening. It still has the factory edge, and just keeps on going. At this rate, sharpening is going to be very rare for this knife...definitely the best edge retention I've seen from a knife. I'm very excited to see what's in the works, and I'm sure I'll find an excuse to add another Mule team (Even if it is as flimsy as my K390 Mule and Swick3 being lonely haha).

Awesome...can't wait for the new mule. I just happened upon the Mule program at the right time to pick up a K390 and S110V and they are both incredible knives. I have been beating on my K390 in the yard and it is a beast. From super thin slices of tomato to gnarly root pruning this thing does the job. I am sure I will be on the hook for one of these as soon as they release (I haven't seen the need for multiples as I just don't see myself ever destroying one and this way I have to learn to sharpen the different steels).

I have found the Mules to be super versatile and capable of almost anything I use knives for except hiding in my pocket. Having so many different versions is just icing on the cake. These little guys can do just about anything and are better cutters than some bigger much more expensive knives I have. The only knives that truly out perform the best of the Mules are probably only going to be ones signed Phil Wilson.

    My sentiments exactly.

I've pretty much decided I'm in for 2 of every Mule that I can get, on the day they are released.
