    I love this idea!

It seems like this sprint had a bunch of issues... the two i owned had awful vertical blade play (hence why i sold them)

Can you share some pics? Other than blade rubbing liner, is there any other issue? If it cuts straight, I'd just use the hell of it!

The blades are very easy to remove. I would get O to elaborate on the possibilities for straightening the blade, and maybe lay it bowed side up and whack it gently a couple of times (j/k)

    Your'e on to it.
Even though there is a science to whacking things with a hammer you don't need Steven Hawking to work it out.
Regrinding till centred is going to uselessly waste a lot of blade.

Sounds like you just need to make it your dedicated left-hand carry knife for a few years

The straightening idea is interesting though. I wonder if Spyderco W&R would attempt anything like that.

This. A reground Caly that's nice and thinned out at the edge would be an amazing cutting tool. It would be a freaking light saber.

About grinding: it depends on how 'crooked' the blade is and whether the bent is within the blade thickness.

I have one bent fixed blade that a regrind will remove 1/3 of the blade length (blade is really thin) and whacking is the only option. However, I use it as it is, being fixed blade doesn't make the bent that obvious.

    Bend the thing straight.
There are many ways to do this after a carefull diagnosis of where to do the straghtening.

So what do you suggest specifically? I have no experience with this.

Seriously. The blade should clear the liners fine after you snap it in half.

Exclamation Big Issues w SB Sprint Run

    Hi Folks!

This is another example of the many issues that had been reported with the Caly 3 and Caly 3.5 Super Blue Sprint Run.

I do have both in my collection, and while the Caly 3.5 is perfect the Caly 3 was clearly of centered, left sided, when it arrived brand NIB from Dealer. It's the one and only Spydie in my collection with any kind of factory issue so far.

For Liquid Cobra, I don't see you sending it back to Golden since you said there's nothing they can do to restore the knife.

Unless you want to get the full MSRP credit they will give you then, and use it to get some other nice model, I think your best chance had already been said: try to regrind the blade.

And if it still it's gonna be your 'Why in the world did this happen?' so just get rid of it. I've seen that before, and it never has a happy ending.
    Stay Sharp!

I think the best way to deal with this is to lobby for a clad Caly 3.5. It seems that the warping issues come from the full-billet knives, and that the clad ones came out great for the most part. I wouldn't mind seeing a clad Caly sprint or two.

Well, "technically" it works and I'm not sure it's warped but rather ground off-angle.

If you haven't tried a regrind I would send it to someone like Travis or find a local smith. The performance of thin blades is insane and Superblue is designed for this kind of treatment. Like slicing sushi atoms thin !

Send me a PM- Ship me the knife with 12 dollars return shipping and ill do it for you with free labour Just to help....... 5 weeks an it should be back into your hands

it will remove enough steel from the sides to stop it rubbing, but I will only be able to fix the centering by removing a mm or so of steel from the edge.

Dont try to straighten it LOL- Maybe if it were a tougher an softer steel but DONT try it with this steel
