Buckeye Burl Southard - First Post

So this is gonna be my first hello, I've been long time lurker. I finally signed up. My first Spyderco was an Emerson Delica. Spyderco was unknown to me, the reason I bought her is because she cut me when I first handled it in the store. Knife bites for me might as well be love bites. Is that weird?

I own many Spydies, among them the Brad Southard. The only thing I didn't like about it was that god awful brown G10. This was my first attempt of creating a custom handle for a folder. Lessons were learned and it was fun. The handle material is stabilized California Buckeye Burl. I have yet to create a lock bar stabilizer from the same stuff.

    Thanks for looking!

    Thanks!

My Google foo suggests that you are referring to buckeye in Spanish? In that case I love "Castaņo de Indias" handles!

Nice work! Very cool woodburl. Is that the SKS with the folding bayonet? You can't imagine how many I confisquated back in 99 in Kosovo.

I also didn't like the brown G10 and I tried a couple of woods (black-white ebony, bocote) but it didn't work out because I wanted it too thin. I ended up with this dual-green G10
    Welcome to the forum!

Yea she has a folding blade bayonet. Not the cross type you sometimes see. From what I hear they were refurbished a long long time ago packed in cosmoline and then eventually Canadian firearm dealers bought a few shipping containers worth of them. All the numbers match on mine except for the stock.
