Is it time for a Spyderco fillet knife?

Specifically I would love to get my hands on a FB06 or FB07. It was designed by Phil Wilson back in the day. Now that we know Spyderco and Mr. Wilson make a great team (Southfork) I think it's a good time to request these beauties. I'm thinking MBS26 steel, just like the kitchen knives that were recently released. Thoughts? Would you buy one? Any ideas on handle material?

I would be interested in one in S35V or XHP. I think that G10 would make for a good handle.

Never can tell. And, if the Phil Wilson ones are not possible, I know that Sal has suggested that at least some of other Pro Cullinaire knives will be reissued if sales of the K04 Utility Knife justify it. So there's at least an outside chance the K06 Fillet knife might reappear.

If we were to make a sport filet blade, it would be one of Phil's. We cut out blades about 10 or so years ago on Phil's model. but abandoned the project due to a variety of reasons.

Steel should age well so 10 years is no age to worry about Sal

Im liking this in H1 steel with orange or yellow extra grippy g10 handles, about 2 inches of serration at the base of the blade near the handle and a vented kydex sheath. I fish in salt water and my filets get used and abused. no such thing a a safe queen filet knife in my house

I like the idea of the two inches of serrations...kind of like the catcherman.

It just happened to be there when I was going to take the photo, I do use it in the kitchen, and it just happens to be my favorite knife that I own.

I make lunchmeat out of roasts etc with it......

Fillet knives work freaking awesome in the kitchen...

And they need to bring back the Profile set too....

Thumbs up Fixed Blade YES!! But don't Forget the C-17

Put me down for one of the fixed blade Phil Wilson designs!! Yeah for sure we need a great fixed fillet knife without any shred of a doubt. But I'm never going to abandon one of my very favorite Spyderco utility knives and that being the great C-17 Catcherman model. I just think that if they would jazz up the Catcherman with different handles and blade lengths I think you would see an explosion in sales in that sector.

I have had so many guys over the years that I go fishing with constantly complain to me about how hard it is to find a really decent and affordable fillet knife. Other than "Knives of Alaska" or "Frederick Dick" I don't have a lot of others I could recommend to serious fisherman.

Yes indeed we need a good fixed blade fillet knife but I still say that a revamped Catcherman with different handle materials and diffferent blade steels would truly be great for those serious about fishing and other outdoor cutting chores.

Catcherman in MBS-26 and H1? For testing purposes.
