Last hike of 2013 and first hike of 2014

Sorry guys hope this isn't too dull just a few shots. This was heading back from our new years eve hike, a beautiful end to 2013.

First hike of 2014, I got up early with the dog before we hit the slopes

This is at the hill. It was nice and sunny once we broke through the low lying fog in the valley. There is a lake hidden under all that fog.

    Best of 2014 everyone!

Thanks Eric m. the weather has been great lately for being outside, not really cold (+4c with a low of -4C) very little snow in our valley but plenty in the hills.

Those shots are terrific. I must not be living right. This is what I would have preferred doing for New Year's Eve. I devoted my Christmas want list this year to camping / hiking materials to update my inventory. My son is coming up on 5 years old and we plan on having our first winter camp out in the next few weeks. Your pictures are inspiring and I appreciate the motivation.

That will be great for your son, such and adventure when you are a kid. I did a lot of back packing, more when we lived on the coast but now most of my hikes are day hikes. It is nice living were we do though, there is lots of opportunity for adventure close by, I started that hike about 10 minutes from my house.

When I was stationed in San Diego my submarine made 2 trips to Vancouver Island in two years. We spent about 5 days in Esquimalt and the surrounding community! The Olympic Mountains were very beautiful and awe inspiring!

.................................................. ..Speechless. wish I could be there with you, taking in how beautiful it is up there. Or at least live close to somewhere that was even close to as beautiful as that. Happy New Year everyone and may it be a blessed one. Best Regards, Jake

Man I have got to get in touch with nature this year. I haven't been fishing or hiking or anything more than riding my bike in a few years now. I think my first goal this spring is to get my fishing license and get back out on the lakes.

Yes its nice to get out, particularly at this time of year, I find if I don't get out I just don't feel that chipper. A little sunshine, a little fresh air and a some exercise, it does wonders for the spirit.
