Mmmm, a big bowl of pho and a glass of ca phe sua da sounds excellent now.
I'm a huge fan of spicy food, so much of my list will be hot. Ethnically I am quite mixed (Scottish/Russian/Egyptian) but as far as what I ate growing up, I will need to leave Mediterranean/Middle-eastern food out of my list.
1. Would be a tie between Vietnamese and Thai food. A good alternative to pho is bun bo hue. Unlike pho's beef-based broth, bun bo hue is a lemongrass and chile paste broth, and it comes chock full of pig's feet and congealed blood.
2. Is a toss up between either Indian food and Trinidad food. I love the spices used in Indian cooking, and Trinidad cuisine is a melting pot of Caribbean, Indian, African, and some Middle-eastern flavors.
3. BBQ of any type. Be it Korean, Mongolian, or American. Ever since I got a Big Green Egg this past year, I've been going hog-wild. Have had great success with 11 pound brisket flats, and Boston butts.
