Cool Santa Arrived - From Dad To Dad

    Got this in the week.....

The tension on the ball detent was way too strong resulting in the blade being very hard to deploy.

....sooooo I broke out the Dremel & tools for some PM2 pimping.

Modified the detent blade tension, mirror polished the brass spacers & contact areas on blade pivot and liners.

Lightly lubed with Fluid Film on friction areas - put it back together and walla....the most supersmooth Para ever.

Now to get rid of that ugly edge....

    Some pics:

I'm surprised at how many people I see polishing the washers and pivot area like that. I'm too concerned with opening up tolerances and creating side play.

I use a very fine compound which does not actually remove metal really - the main culprit is the brass spacers - once they are shiny & smooth the knife deploys seamlessly.

I'll have to look into that, especially since those can be replaced of they do get thinned out too much.

Nice blade, MadRookie! Can't wait to see the pics of the edge when you get finished with it. Is this your first knife in S90V?

    Hi Ted,

    Yep - 1st one in S90V.

Have a couple in S110V, so am curious to compare performance.

I have sharpened a good many blades in S90V for customers though.

Beautiful knife. Reminds me of my fold able knife I had my girlfriend had gifted me last year. Lost it last month though. :P
