    Keychain knife retention methods

Hi, I'm curious what other people use to fasten their ladybugs, manbugs, etc to their keychain? Something that allows for release from the keychain seems like a good idea, but I haven't come across the perfect system yet. I've thought of doing something like a stainless steel S-biner.

A clip like this seems like it would work pretty well too. The only picture I could find is upside down, sorry.

    What do you use?

For my ladybug I use the countycomm kydex sheath. It's compact and allows quick release. For the other tools/flashlight a no name quick release hook thingy attached to a small ring on the tool itsef.

I use Nite Ize locking s-biners like these:

    http://www.niteize.com/product/S-Biner-MicroLock.asp

They work great for my Manbug and Ladybug (and flashlights, keys, etc, all clipped on a larger key ring), couldn't recommend them more!

Almost everything else has changed since the top photo was taken, but still use the same quick disconnect between my Micarta Jester and my keys.

Hi Paul, neat pics! In your first one, what is the slender silver piece to the immediate left of the Jester? Is it something functional or just decorative? Thanks!!

I also use that disconnect on one of my car keys, also highly recommended!

It's a small screwdriver, perfect size for eyeglass screws. Still have it, somewhere, but I stopped carrying it after I had Lasik surgery and no longer needed glasses.

Kiwi's been engraved since that photo was taken, but it still gets carried fairly often. Persian, not so much, but I do still have it.

I just use a simple wire circle thing and keychains to keep all my stuff together. Screws together and apart easily enough to allow for changing whatevers on it.

My lanyard currently looks like this, although I swap out the Jester with a Ladybug every now and then.

I have an all stainless Jester on my keyring. The big ring is like one in the first picture and it is attached to that ring with a smaller one like in the bottom picture. That way with the knife open you can put your little finger in the big ring and it acts as an extension of the knife handle. This is the best set up I have found. It also works well with a Dragonfly in the same manner. Several times I have opened up the Jester or Dragonfly at night on the way to my car. With your little finger in the bigger ring it has the feel of a small Karambit

You can get those quick release keychains almost anywhere that cuts keys. Walmart has a spinner display of various keychains and they have them on that.
