Just got my shipping notice, set to arrive on the 11th from the guys in MD
Experience is something you get right after you need it
I agree with twinboys n Donut's posts above. They have been late on the releases if they get them at all. By then, I'd have bought it from another place as I dont want to take my chances.
Got a tracking number from Howes today BTW
Upcoming: N5 CF/S110v, N5 LWT, Stretch SB
-Crossing fingers for news on the Phil Wilson proto the "Sprig" from the A'dam meet.
I just paid about 200 to my local brick and mortar for one of these. I have to agree that it is necessary to support local shops. I get to see and play with their stuff so it is only fair I think. My first Military, by the way. Thought about the blue one (which they also carried and for less than the other shop!) but figure I'll start with this one.
I am either going to pass all together or get one online...I hate it, because they are cool guys and I like to go inside but the extra $30 to "buy local" would get me another Ladybug hawkbill on line. In case I did not mention, this B&M has guns, archery, costa del mar glasses, fishing supplies (all over priced) and there is usually no where to park. They do just fine obviously and will sell the 2 Cru Mil's before the week is over.
My shipping notice was sent me today as well. Super excited about this.
Is Cruwear any better than M-390 or S90V ??
Steel Snob M-4
I can't wait to use this one! I bet the tungsten will give it a very aggressive edge. I expect this CPM Cruwear to act a lot like a more stain resistant Super Blue.
PM2 satin camo, P'kal, Matriarch 2, Squeak, Endura 4, Delica 4, Jason Breeden Rescue, Orange Dodo, Dragonfly 2, Yojimbo 2, Manix 2 DLC Black, UKPK, Ulize, Lum Tanto Folder Grey, Caly 3.5, Swick 3, Bug, Grey G10 Jester, Military CPM Cru-Wear, Karahawk, Ladybug, Caly 3 Super Blue, Bradley Folder, Starmate, Ladybug Super Blue, Urban, PM2 CPM 154/S90V
Bring back the A.T.R!
CRU-WEAR IMO falls in the category of Z-Wear/PD-1/CPM-3V.
Here is a comparison graph:
I believe this is the patent for CPM-3V
Wear resistant, powder metallurgy cold work tool steel articles having high impact toughness and a method for producing the same
Note: The higher wear resistance that is promoted is higher in the category the specific steel falls into (cold work tool steel).
Here is specific mention of CRU-WEAR in other patents:
Low-cost, high-strength, high-toughness and high-abrasion resistance cold-working die steel and preparation method thereof
High malleable high wear-resisting cold process mould steel
