I love me some CS, but their sprint availability has been crap...no SB Enduras or Delicas, Lavas, or Cruwear. I always try to use them but they are making it hard.

It seems like CS has a reserve list when it comes to sprints. They only list a few of the lowest desired sprints about a month after they start hitting the dealers.

I agree with twinboys n Donut's posts above. They have been late on the releases if they get them at all. By then, I'd have bought it from another place as I dont want to take my chances.

Got a tracking number from Howes today BTW
Upcoming: N5 CF/S110v, N5 LWT, DragonFly SB, Marcin Slysz Bowie, Farid Mehr K2, Peter Carey Rubicon, Gayle Bradley Fixed Blade, Phil Wilson Sprig, Mule Team 4V

I just paid about 200 to my local brick and mortar for one of these. I have to agree that it is necessary to support local shops. I get to see and play with their stuff so it is only fair I think. My first Military, by the way. Thought about the blue one (which they also carried and for less than the other shop!) but figure I'll start with this one.

I am either going to pass all together or get one online...I hate it, because they are cool guys and I like to go inside but the extra $30 to "buy local" would get me another Ladybug hawkbill on line. In case I did not mention, this B&M has guns, archery, costa del mar glasses, fishing supplies (all over priced) and there is usually no where to park. They do just fine obviously and will sell the 2 Cru Mil's before the week is over.

Tougher, not more wear resistant. Not SS either. Keep in mind this is CPM CruWear, and that no one has used this yet, so no one really knows.

Since I missed out on the one, and the Cruwear is a lot cheaper than the other, I'm still pretty interested in Cruwear.

Now where can I find one...?

I can't wait to use this one! I bet the tungsten will give it a very aggressive edge. I expect this CPM Cruwear to act a lot like a more stain resistant Super Blue.

As nccole said it will be tougher. Not more wear resistant. Do not confuse wear resistance as the only measure of edge retention.

CRU-WEAR IMO falls in the category of Z-Wear/PD-1/CPM-3V.

    Here is a comparison graph:

    http://zknives.com/knives/steels/ste...542&hrn=1&gm=0

I believe this is the patent for CPM-3V

Wear resistant, powder metallurgy cold work tool steel articles having high impact toughness and a method for producing the same

Note: The higher wear resistance that is promoted is higher in the category the specific steel falls into (cold work tool steel).

Here is specific mention of CRU-WEAR in other patents:

Low-cost, high-strength, high-toughness and high-abrasion resistance cold-working die steel and preparation method thereof

High malleable high wear-resisting cold process mould steel

KC was nice enough to take my name down about a monthago; I bet I'm somewhere around 5,000th on the list
Of course I'll be looking elsewhere

Considering there is 1200 of these being made, if you are 5,000 on the list I'd say you are getting screwed, LOL.
