I like that. Pretty nice pattern. Next time maybe draw a mountain scene with a wolf. We'll be waiting. Just kidding. That does look good.
My EDC for a while. Stretch with carbon fiber handle, Dragonfly 2 with kirinite MOP handle, Manbug with bolster/red bone handle. Super blue/420J1 blades on all three.

Here are a few of mine:
No. 6's: Bottom to top, Beech Carbone(with dropped point), Beech Inox, Oak, Walnut, Olive, Bubinga, Cherry?- this is an older model and I not sure what the wood is.
This is my favorite size and I still need a now discontinued Rosewood No. 6

Etching close-up on the Olive and Bubinga

No. 8 Cherry carbone with a dropped point, I did this from the unfinished handle kit:

Is the one on the left, the larger of the two, the Opinel Number 8 Stainless Steel in Olive Wood? I was considering getting that one.

Those are all sixes. I do have the olive No. 8, its a nice knife but I prefer a six for pocket carry.

I have a few. #12, 10, 7 and 5. I also have the Cold Steel Twistmaster version that phillipsted mentioned on page 2. The #5 I bought ages ago, my first Opinel. Only mods I have ever done was to add slots in the handle to get at the nail nicks better. The skinny one is a Slim #10 in Bubinga.

Bought a No. 09 Carbone on my way home today. It's my first Opinel...the blade isn't perfectly straight along the cutting edge, and the flat part of the cutting edge isn't quite perfect near the back, but I've just been spoiled by Spyderco fit and finish. For a $16 knife it's definitely more than adequate. Just ran it through the SharpMaker and it takes a very sharp edge with ease. I'll be interested to see how it keeps its edge, and I'll be trying a patina of some sort. I also might sand down the raised bit at the back of the handle to smooth it out because it'll be more comfortable like that. I'm new to modding knives, and this is an easy and inexpensive way to dive in.

I've said it before, but Opinel makes some of the best slicers out there. Nice thin blades. They just work.

I've never heard you say anything like that. Just know you're constant bombardment on how much everyone needs at least one Opinel because of the edge the blade takes and keeps not to mention it's simplicity was too much for me. I had to undergo therapy. My shrink wrote me a prescription for at least one Opinel. I took his advise (and yours) and now I'm cured. Funny though, "at least one Opinel" wasn't on a list of medications the insurance would pay for.

Pretty good for me. Rebeveled to 26° inclusive and micro'ed on 36°inclusive on brown sharpmaker rods.

I've cut up some cardboard myself with it now and it really does hold an edge very well. Today I'll try inducing a patina on the blade, and it's bound to end up being my pickling knife, so the patina should be constantly evolving.

Was browsing on NGK and found this. I never saw it before but that doesn't mean much. Just thought I'd share it with any Opinel addicts.

Yeah, there have been several kit packs over the years. Some in boxes, some in roll ups etc. Nice instant collection.

Great pics xcptnel. Now I'm hungry. I've uglied up my Opinel pretty good. I love the way it cuts though. I like it for eating also. The only one I have is the #6 and I have changed the handle a bunch. Sanded it removing the little hump on the top of the handle at the end of it. Also cut a notch to get tot he nail nick easier. Stained the handle with something I had in the house. Walnut??? Maybe.

The carbon steel takes a great edge too. Shorter blades are nice for intricate work as in whittling. Having a few Opinel's and then grinding the blades shorter as needed might be an option for a few low cost whittling knives. I've had the desire to start whittling but it never lasts.
