Copy the link to the picture

Click on the picture icon on the toolbar above the reply box, next to the little globe and envelope

A little popup will appear, click on the "From Link" tab and paste the link. Don't forget to uncheck the "Retrieve remote file and reference locally"

The link will then appear between IMG tags. It should look like this:

    The result is this:

You can also just type the tags

It looks like a Native, maybe it even smells like a Native, but it's place should be separated in our list in wording as you described, as "bastard" in generation portfolio.

I'll try to clear that matter within spydiewiki-group.

I think this fact cannot be forgotten and therefore it has his "bastard" place in the list but doens't count as a Spyderco

When these comments were made a couple of weeks ago I thought we (the group) were somewhat diminishing the importance of the BRK, but I decided to go along with the group consensus to relegate the BRK to bastard status at the bottom of the list in a reduced font and nearly unreadable grayed out status.

Fast forward to yesterday when I was standing in SFO and looking at the history of the Native display for the gazillionth time and noticed that Spyderco considers the BRK an important part of the history of the Native. As far as the list here is concerned I think I would like to see the bastard moniker removed and the font color and size set in line with the rest of the list only because I think it is important not to change history. And if at some point a actual SKU is ever determined, maybe it can find it's proper place on the list.

Fortunately Mr Blonde has documented the display on YouTube so you too may see where Spyderco places the BRK.

Thank you for the excellent research rescueseven! You are our important man in SFO-place
From my point of view we still have the open question whether or not the BRK-Native had its own SKU-number.

Thx R7 for raising this. This is the biggest controversie we had until now and its not over. This should not rest as long as someone has a doubt about the solution.

I agree on your viewpoint. And thats why I think the knife deserves his place in the list. So the entry now is a compromise. But it can be changed to a regular entry

There is just the matter of the SKU like Peter mentionned and do we count it as a Spyderco?

We could keep it as "BRK - Native 1 BRK" and give it a seperate place under the Balisongs, I'm not in favour to put it among the Natives due to the absence of a C41 SKU. But I would like to see it count as a valid entry... More Spydies is better And I can say I almost changed it when copying the list last time. You see I have an offline list in which it counts as a Spydie so I have to be attentive to substract it from the total.

    What we do? Other opinions?

Haven't solved the SKU question but I did find this little tid-bit in a post from 12 years ago. Obviously this horse has been beaten before.

However, I do enjoy the lively and fascinating discussion. Thank you.

Hi. I've heard your requests for the "story" behind the BRK Natives. Apologies on my end for being slow. Lots going on at this time. I'm impressed that you would be interested, thanx.

When the Native was first designed, oit was scheduled to be made by Camillus in New York as a subcontractor. The plan was for 440A. The Native was to be a less expensive offering than the Delica at the same size.

Camillus made a large number of blades out of 440A. They were very nicely made blades. For a variety of reasons, Camillus could not produce for us at the time, so we brought the mold (that Camillus made) into Golden and produced the GIN-1 version for years. Then we changed the blade steel to CPM-440V, the price jumped, and will probably stay with the exotic steels in the near future.

Blue Ridge Knives, a long time and very good distributor for Spyderco knives put together a plan to use the perfectly good
Camillus made blades, Camillus would make the locks and springs, Spyderco would provide the Native handles and Camillus would assemble them in New York. This made it possible to make the less expensive offering. All in all, it's a nicely made USA made piece, and as mentioned, for the price, its hard to beat.

Blue Ridge Knives had the plan and made it possible. So BRK has exclusive rights to the distribution of the model.

    Hope that helps.

We'll still be making the Native in Golden from CPM steels. There is also a Seki-City variation variation coming out later this year.
