Thanks jabba. Great work Ed, I love to hear the real thoughts
behind a knife design. I think that the only thing left now is
to order a Schempp Rock and test that bad boy out.

First video of a long serie...I hope. Thank you for posting.
I like this guy, always a pleasure to listen to him. And I like his slow and clear speech, very easy to understand even for a French like me, with a poor English.
Thank you to Spyderco for making it.

Very cool video, and Ed is just as cool a person as he is on the video. When I spoke with him at Blade show this year he was truly a fascinating person.

As Sal noted, the suggestion for this came from a forumite (kbuzbee) a couple of months ago. Although I like the videos that are shot at trade shows, from a production standpoint they leave a lot to be desired because the environment is loud, the lighting is harsh, and it's hard to focus with so much going on.

A few weeks ago, Ed visited Colorado and Spyderco. Since he was "handy," I asked him if he'd we willing to discuss some of his designs for the camera. Since he's an old friend and I have a blast hanging out with him, there was a strong selfish motive as well. As several of you noted in your posts, Ed is a very cool person and very willing to share his incredible knowledge of knives and knifemaking. As always, I learned a lot listening to him and look forward to sharing that with all of you through the designer's Insight series. There is definitely more to come.

Thanks, Ed, for sharing your knowledge and to all of you for your continued enthusiasm for Spyderco products.

    Stay safe,

I can't wait for your videos Mr. Janich! I'd love to see a discussion of the iterations of the Yojimbo designs.

I hope to see more of these videos. They are very educational and it is nice to hear the thoughts the makers used to create their designs. Thanks to kbuzbee, Ed, Mike and Spyderco for sharing this with us.

This video is icing on the cake! If every knife had something like this it would be very nice. Thank you Ed for the content of this video.
