The lockbar is a little thin so it takes a determined THWACK open to make sure the lock is engaged. In this case, you DO want to flick and not just gently open.

In my humble opinion, this knife needs to be at the top of everyone's 2012 "must have" list. I can't say enough good about this design. It is nothing short of perfect!Here's mine:
