Where do you keep your knives?

I'm young into collecting knives and would love to know where you keep them. In the spyderco box it came with, inside a closet or drawer, a glassed case etc. if you could post pics, that would be great. Thanks guys!

My computer desk has two slots for books to the right of the monitor. I keep all my knives in their original boxes stacked up in there. But then, i only have 10 boxes in there. I'm a user, not a collector. I used to collect '80s toys, but i came to the realization that i collect things that collect dust, or i collect things that sit in a box in storage just so i can say i have it. Lately i've been thinking of selling/trading some of what i have just because i've come to only use 2-3 of the ones i have, and i hate having good knives sit in boxes.

I made a small fortune buying and selling toys before eBays fee's went redonkulous!

I keep mine in MaxPedition Dodecapods. They're built well and protect. I keep my boxes and Edge-U-Cation sheets in another box in my closet.
...I have no knives I keep in a safe but there are one or two that don't leave the house...

Oh yeah...me and eBay used to be best friends. They had share in my bank account. At one time i was buying up Stompers like crazy and spending ridiculous money doing so. I never did sell anything on there, just buy up everything. Now it all sits in storage waiting to someday make me rich (yeah right).

I keep mine out of their boxes and sitting in an empty dresser drawer, boxes go in the one below. Saw one member on here line them up in a tool chest, and I've been tempted to do the same, but don't have near enough knives.

I'm more inclined to think like David. All mine get used (some more frequently than others) so I keep them out and ready to go. Besides, keeping them in the boxes would mean I don't get to look at them every day when I go to pick one!

Until I have kids, I will be keeping them all over the place, hidden in every corner and cranny of my apartment.

My user rotation are lined up in a pelican 1080 that sits open on my dresser. When I want to move em I just close the case and know they're protected.

I had another pelican case which I plucked the foam out of to fit my knives nicely but I find I change my rotation so frequently that the foam got changed so often it became a mess.

I didn't pluck the foam from the 1080, I just lay my knives on top and the case can be closed with enough compression to keep them from moving

Contents have changed, and they're about 800 miles further south than when these photos were taken, but I still use this trio of curio cabinets to store most of mine.

Here's a photo of the small one as it looks today...

    Hey a.s.,
I keep my knives in segregated, lockable, aluminium pistol cases. One for each brand.
The egg carton foam keeps the knives nice and secure, and when closed, sandwich the knives to keep them from shifting around.
Some of them are single sided, and some are double sided.
The cases can be stacked for convenience.
I keep them stored in a large lockable trunk.
Hope this gives you some ideas for storage.

Most of my users are.. Well. Scattered. In the Jeep. Around the house in various drawers, on shelves, Or in MY Bowl (MY Bowl, dangit! ) on the counter..
BTW.. Don't ask about the bowl on the counter.. It's an on-going issue I don't want to get into..

I do have a few Queens I keep safe, though.. in one of these..

..Obviously joking there.. I keep most of my queens in their boxes. Inside an old chest. In the closet of... Nope. Ain't tellin.
    I walk away slow tonight,
    and cut through the air
with a curse, like a knife.

In my pocket or my Maxpedtion Romora EDC bag. I've sold all my knives but 5. They go everywhere with me.

Wow, Paul! That is a beautiful cabinet. It also allows you to safely display your knives in a very unique way. Very nice!

We share the same name and the same thoughts on collecting. Nice to see that.

I keep the small amount of knives that are "sentimental" to me or in a small red tin. It used to hold cookies and now it holds knives. All of the knives I own are used, even if they mean something to me and I may want to hand them down to someone in the future.

I used to think the same thing. Back when i did collect toys, i had book shelves full of vintage stuff displayed all over my apartment. When we found out we were having a baby the first time, all my friends gave me the speech about how i'd have to hide them all or my son would get in them, and i got the same talk about hiding my knives. I've NEVER had to hide either, i just taught my kids what was off limits and they've stuck to it. My son never did touch my toys, but he would stand at the book shelf and stare them down like a hawk. Now i have a 3 year old daughter and even she knows not to touch the knives, but she comes over to my desk all the time and watches me sharpen. You can't child proof everything. If you parent that way, your kids will eventually get into something that you haven't child proofed and won't know any better. It's much wiser to just educate them and set boundaries. My son is 9 and he's cut himself using my Paramilitary, so he knows all to well that knives are not toys and they're to be respected. My daughter won't even pick one up and hand it to me.

I keep all of my knives in a "secret drawer" of my dresser... And my EDC knife on my dresser.
Me and my dad have been working on restoring a display case that my grandpa had his knives in...once it's finished then I'll put my knives in there.
