    change since forum upgrade

I quit thinking about changes but this one never did get straightened out. It's no big deal and possible it's something to do with my computer (but I don't think so).

Now, when I open the forum from the link in an email I never know where I'm going to land within the thread. Used to be I'd go to the end of the thread I think. Now I end up almost anywhere. First post, page, middle, never the very end I don't think. As I said it's not a big deal. I wouldn't even call it an inconvenience, just thought to mention it to find out if it is common or is it just me or my PC. Anyone else notice this?

    Jack,
I don't often subscribe to threads so I'm honestly not sure what's happening, but I'll subscribe to a few and see how it goes. I'll update when I know more.

If anyone else has any input though please chime in.

I tested this out, I opened a thread by clicking on the title of the thread that I KNOW I have viewed before. It took me to the first post of the first page.

I clicked to open the last page and scrolled all the way to the end. (It should have recognized that I had read the thread.) Then went back and clicked on the title of the thread, it took me to the first post of the first page again.

I think I've just been making sure I click on the last page link instead of the thread title. I don't mind starting from the top because I normally like to glance through the last page to make sure I didn't miss anything.

    Donut,
Unless I've mis-read Jack's post, he is referring to opening a thread from a link in an e-mail received about a thread he's subscribed to? You are referring to opening a thread from the list on the forum. Based upon what you describe, the forum is functioning properly. If you click on a thread title it will take you to the beginning of a thread whether you've read it before or not. If you click on the last post icon it will take you to the end of the thread.

    Jack,
I've done a few tests with subscribed threads and the links seem to work as they are intended. The link should take you to the last post made since either you subscribed to the thread or since you last read the thread.

You'll see a note at the bottom of the e-mail that tells you that you won't receive additional e-mails about news posts in that specific thread until you've returned to the thread and read it. So if an e-mail is dispatched and you immediately click the link it take you to that post and it will likely be the last post in the thread. If however an e-mail is dispatched and you don't click the link for a while there may be additional posts. In other words the link will take you to the post that triggered the e-mail notification but if other posts are made after the link is sent it may seem like it's dropped you in the middle of the thread.

The easiest way to figure out if it's taking you where it should is review the post in the e-mail. Below the link there is a series of **** and the post will be quoted there. You'll notice when you click the link, what you read in the e-mail will be the post it takes you to.

Let me know if I'm not understanding the issue or if it doing something different for you.

I clicked the link in my email that was created by this forum letting me know there was a new post. It worked just right. I'll pay more detailed attention as I believe I have done that and landed on the second page of a thread that has 6 pages (for example). Can't be completely sure since I haven't paid close attention. I'll let you know and thanks for checking this. I know you have more important things to do. Or, you could tell Sal, "Hey Sal, I need to drop all other work until Jack's email/forum situation is fixed". I'm sure that would be fine with him.

I'd have to e-mail him Jack, I'm not even in the office right now (out of town on business).
