What is the best NON - FEE site to sell knives

I have some pocket and some hunting knives, mostly ... Edited... what is the best non fee site to sell these ?

I think people overlook Craigslist too often. I put a Para 2 on there and it literally sold the same day and i had about 50 emails about it. Around here there just aren't many good knives for sale on there so when they pop up, they disappear.

Definitely check out the CandlePowerForums Marketplace. I've sold a bunch there.

While I know the Gold Membership at BladeForums is a fee, the amount of traffic on that site is pretty high and knives seem to move faster there.

Not to mention that at least some folks are less leery about buying from a brand new member on forums where a valid real name, address, and phone had to be provided in order to sell.

Knife-bst is the unofficial Spyderco forum classified section. Registered and verified members here get special status to help identify 'familiar faces.'
It doesn't get the same exposure as CPF or BF, but if the discriminating buyer you're looking for is someone who knows what's what in the Spyderco lineup, it's a good place to start.

The E-bay thing never ceases to amaze me. I hate the fees for E-bay and Paypal, but I end up making a few more bucks even with that than via other sources. People seem to bid way more on some of these knives than I would think that they are worth. This seems to happen more often than not. I've only had a couple of "crapper" auctions where the item sold below expectations. I kind of like letting the market decide what it wants to pay, flaws and all.

I've found eBay to be the opposite. Maybe I'm too honest with my descriptions, but I usually have to list multiple times and only occasionally get more than the opening bid price. Then come the 12+% fees and the possibility of not getting paid for 3 weeks. I'm done with selling on eBay for good. I much prefer the forum atmosphere.

That's where I differ on the approach to E-bay - I never set an opening bid price. I just start at zero (or $.99 or whatever) and let the market decide. I think what tends to happen is that folks get caught up in the bidding process and then get hooked or something. The Deacon/Paul mentioned once that it was best to start from zero and let the bidders run with it. I've never been burned this way (i.e. getting stuck selling a Lionspy for $1.00 or something like that) although a couple have fallen short of what I thought.

For what it's worth, I pride myself on being honest with my descriptions too and have never had a buyer complaint. But E-bay is a pain in the rear sometimes and I could easily tire of it in the near future. I'm riding it until I get sick of it and then I'll trying something else, I suppose.

Yea but people on eBay aren't cheap deal hunting snobs.

I tried to sell a Rock Salt on CPF once for like $250 when they were discontinued and got nothing but crickets. eBay sold it in like 2 days for $337. That's hardly a statistical analysis but forum people seem to be more discerning and expecting for free shipping.

There definitely are lowballers on the forums. But I've had good experiences. Especially buying/selling FTF on my local gun/gear forum. But, that's a different discussion.
