    Who designed the Swick??

Was it Sal's concoction? Maybe Eric, maybe Mr. Perrin and Mr Schempp thrown in The leaf version of this small FB seems to exemplify the skills of all.

I did have handles made for mine, Zach did a superior job and they really make my Swick as friendly as it is. Still curious as to the design origin of the blank with the finger grooves and butt that seems designed for a pinky

The question comes up for me because I took it out today and saw the edge wasn't up to my current standards. After reprofiling and using for a few small things around the house I was once again struck at how friendly and useful this little FB is.

I genuinely appreciate the thought that went into making these blanks

Sal Glesser himself is the designer

IIRC, the SWICK was Sal's response to requests and suggestions made either here, on the BF Spyderco forum, or in both places, for a "new and improved" version of the SPOT, which was designed by Sal.

Zach did a nice job on those scales! What type of wood are they?

You'll probably love a spot too. They are my two favorite fixed blade designs. I've been playing with a folding swick design for quite some time as well. I love this model.

They're curly Maple with a 1/16" black spacer per side. They've darkened a little over time and have picked up a few very small dings and scratches but the character and comfort of the blade is undiminished.

I've got a set of Purple Heart scales for my Swick 2 that are almost finished. I'll be posting pics of them on the "Show Your Mule" thread this week. The scales are so small and full of curves that they are almost "jewel-like". Definitely different that the regular Mule Team blades.
