Agreed! After two weeks of triple-digit temperatures, that's the last thing on my mind. I hope you're at McMurdo Station or something.

Over the last few years, as my collection and my fascination with Spyderco have grown, I have felt the need to take photographs of them. Not always good photos, but photos never the less.

I was going to take a photo of a single knife or a group of knives, but could not decide on which. So I suppose a title for this photo could be “Indecision”

What I have done is fairly randomly selected just a few photos that I thought may be of interest, out of the many hundreds of photos I have. Then basically thrown them in the air and let them fall where they may.

The result I hope; is a photo that requires more than just a glance to take in. I hope it is one people will to take the time to study, maybe even try to peek under a photo to get a better look at the one below.
So! Some old, some new, a little bit of cute, a little bit of weird and plenty of color.
I hope with this photo in a small way helps to share my illness….Sorry! I mean share my passion for Spyderco knives with others.

Congrats, Reject, a most amazing collation of pics and a most amazing collection of spydies.

Can't help but feel sorry for the surrounded karambit!

I'll keep studying this pic for a while.

    Here's my entry...

    Forum name: Jazz
Spyderco knife:Delica 4 Full Flat Grind Brown

I chose this one because it is a truly great all around knife. Not too big, not too small, cuts great, looks fantastic, and is very ergonomic. I got lucky, in my opinion, with this shot of the brown one down by the river one day during a walk. I really like it and hope someone else can appreciate it, too.

Good luck to everyone. All the pictures are extra nice this year!

    - best wishes, Jazz.

That would have been a great picture for the July picture this year over here in the Midwest.

    Width: 3450 px
    Height: 2700 px
    Resolution: 300
(This translates to 11.5” x 9” to account for a ¼ inch bleed)
Image must be available in high resolution at 300dpi at end of contest.

I can manage a picture that is 3888 x 2592...does that mean that I cannot take part?
You could always add two black rectangles to make up the missing 108 pixels. We seem to be getting used to black borders with all the odd TV resolutions.

I solved the problem by borrowing a Canon 7D...and my latest pic is the result...
I might tweak the contrast up a bit to expose some detail, but I like the way that the red Spyder jumps out at you...

For anyone else with the same problem, while a border will work, there's also another solution. If you have, or are able to download, Google Picasa you can us it to crop your photo to the required 8.5 X 11 format, then use its "Edit in Picnik" function to open the formatted photo in Picnik, enlarge it with Picnik's resize feature to meet the contest's size requirement and save the enlargement. That's what I wound up doing. I use a Nikon D60 DSLR and had no intention of investing in another camera. I was going to use a border, but tried Picnik even though I didn't think it would preserve the 300dpi resolution. Was pleasantly surprised to find out it did and very pleased with the result.

    Spyderco Knife: Leafstorm

I have looked for a sturdy sub 3" integral lock knife for a long time and there are few if any. The Leafstorm offers great blade steel, a titanium RIL, lightweight and unique G10. It's a knife that I feel comfortable using anywhere, anytime. Sitting on some shells and shark teeth we set into a cement mold. Brought back from a beach at Parris Island where I was stationed in the Corps for a while.

    For now:

Took a day off work to go for a ride on my motorcycle. Never been to this particular wharf before and it was so beautiful I had to take a picture. With my delica of course!
