    Southard release date?

    So excited about Spyderco's first flipper! Is there any word when it's supposed to come out? Will it be out this year, at least?

    It's suppose to be Q4 2012, so the end of this year, possibly early next year (if they run into any manufacturing problems). I'm really looking forward to this one as well, I especially like the ball bearing pivot system and steel choice (204P).

    In theory, since it's not a sprint, it shouldn't matter. The counter-argument is the Yo2.

    The only thing that makes me think it won't be out this year is that it wasn't in the mid-year supplement while other Q4 stuff is.

    The Southard flipper is one of the most interesting Spyderco knives to in a long while. Looking forward to this one.

    The brown g10 pulled me into the southard...

    Is it going to be regular production or a sprint run??

    Yeps but some production runs are as hard to get lately as Sprints. Take the Yo2 and Fluted military... not easy to get one

    Fluted Military is limited production--50/month--so not quite the same. Yo2, I believe Sal said they shipped the first run and what they do is wait to make sure feedback is okay with it (nothing needs to be tweaked) before making and shipping out more, so once they're back out it should be easy enough to get.

    The moral of the Yo2 story is if you want a Southard right away, preorder to make sure you get in on the first batch.

    It's off again but thank god I got in. I know some people think a non sprint run needs no pre order but I couldn't disagree more.

    I didn't order but have a feeling I could be kicking myself. I had to wait months for the Gayle Bradley and the Para 2. The price isn't that bad either.
