... is it me or do the rest of you find an apple and your favorite Spydie the best way to spend 10 minutes eating?

Best 45 minutes of my afternoon are spent with an apple and a sharp Spyderco (here lately it's the Centofante 4)!

I think you eat way too fast

Clip has it right...slow down and enjoy every slice.

Yep I'm carrying my Centofante 4 today and about to have an apple for lunch. Hollow grinds aren't the best for it but this one is thin enough it does pretty well.

Sadly, I am bad at choosing melons. Then I am afraid that melon juice will collect within the pivot of my knife. Also, those melon seeds are very bad on metal an can cause chipping. JK.

I did once use a cheap Chinese folder I had long ago to make myself a melon helmet. Man that was sooo cool in hot sun. I wish I had a Spydie then.

Did I mention I love the task of cleaning an entire cantaloupe or honeydew with my choice Spydie of the day. I prefer the resilience or the millie to work on them, but I am planning to get a catcherman before I head to the beach this year. Thanks for reminding my Chuck, now that's on my list too.

I surely love melons on a hot day. Normal ones, cantaloupes, and any other kind.

Millie is awesome for cutting open and sectioning them. Sometimes though nothing beats eating melons and making a mess of your face.

Really wish everyone would just leave me alone about it... I know I can just bite it but the slices are half the fun. Good thread

What are we just animals who stick food in our mouth and munch away? No we are Homo Sapiens (pauses for giggles to subside) we are not mere animals, we have developed and know how to use tools!

Interesting how different people are today isn't it?

There was a time when nobody would give a second look or thought to someone pulling out a pocket knife and enjoying an apple this way, but now for most folks it's just strange behavior according to them. Sure would be nice to see a return to simple daily pleasures like this and less anxiety toward our beloved knives (and life in general for that matter)

Think I'll go grab an apple and my Sage and have a seat outside in the sun.

I knew I'd like this place. Really I would have continued to relish this slice of life it in my own little world but I'm glad to know there are others out there also enjoying this simple pleasure.
