    A little Leafstorm love

I have been eying the Leafstorm for a couple years but the mixed reviews on this knife has kept me pulling the trigger. I finally decided to judge for myself. I have always liked the concept, designer, USA made and quality attributes but was worried It wouldn't be my cup of tea. Today I unboxed the knife and I have to say that I like it! The aesthetics are flat out cool and the quality is evident in every way. Lockup is perfect and the ergos are not that bad when you realize its intended purpose. A stout, classy Gent's knife with a rather beefy build. S30V, translucent G10, titanium and an RIL make it pretty worry free. The wide jimping (sp?) works excellent. It's a knife you have to hold to behold.
    Here's a few pics.

Your timing is horribly flawed sir. You see, I've been considering and reconsidering this knife for months and not half an hour ago after watching both oromoto and jimbo's vids for the umpteenth time, decided to hold off once more.

And now, here I am oogling over some classy photos of a classy little big knife and finding myself yet again embattled with my wallet.

    Thanks a bunch buddy

This is such a great looking knife and I really want one but keep getting hung up on the ergonomics, it just doesn't feel right in my hand. I may just have to push past that and get one anyways.

Great pictures, thank you for sharing.
I was in the same shoes fro couple years myself. Fortunately one of my friend bought one and I was able to handle it, which helped me to pull the trigger. Ergos are not the best, but much better than many people described and the knife looks much better in person. I love it. Still keeping my eyes open for a good deal to get one more The knife just perfect for office environment or dress-up carry. Build extremely well.

    RLR:
You rounded the heel of the blade that worried me. With so many people concerned about choils and mentioning being worried about their hand sliding forward I was wondering why I hadn't seen anyone mention it with this knife. Looks to me like that end of the edge is just waiting to get you.

Gotta say great pics! Also been contemplating this one for a little while now. Most likely I will pick one up this summer. The fact that the designer of this knife Kevin Wilkins started out as a graphic designer & into art is fantastic! Showed my wife this knife and told her a little about it & it's creator and she thought it was awesome! Shes a graphic designer and LOVES art! Thanks for sharing Leatherneck!

My Leafstorm came today! A great knife.
some people are turned off by the greenish
    un-dyed G10 but I like it for it's uniqueness.
No warts or flaws on this Golden knife.

I enjoy owning the Leafstorm very much. I really like the look of the design, and the natural G-10. It's solid, very high quality, and is beautiful to look at. But the handle just doesn't fit my hand very well, and that sharp corner has bitten me enough that I don't carry it anymore. But I have no plans to get rid of it, and it currently sits on my desk and sees occasional use around the house.

EGADS! There are enough black knives in this world and part of the Leafstorm's uniqueness is the color.

Good post Leatherneck. Im always for giving the Leafstorm some attention. It has gotten mixed reviews, but I LOVE this knife. The design and materials are very cool and I like the collaboration with Kevin Wilkins. Some folks seem to forget that collaborations are done to bring in another designers thoughts into the Spyderco line. Every Spyderco doesnt have to be pure Spyderco. Leafstorm is one of my top 5 favorite Spydercos!

Great pics! I've carried my Leafstorm for work for a couple of years now. I normally prefer a larger knife, but the blade limits at work prevent carrying anything larger. Although I had some concerns before I bought it, the Leafstorm has performed flawlessly and I really like it. As everyone says, it looks better in person than in the catalog. Fit and finish are perfect, and the blade cuts like crazy. This was a very fruitful collaboration between Spyderco and Kevin Wilkins. I've never had a problem with my finger slipping forward and I occasionally open boxes with it. I have medium-sized hands, so maybe that helps me.

It is a beautiful knife if it was just an inch or so longer I would be sold. But that said, it still comes up on my short list all the time.

With so many people complaining finger could slip onto the edge, you don't have to hold it in saber grip as would a large knife. In fact for small knives like this it's best to pinch hold it at the pivot area, better grip and no danger of slip.

Dang you, Leatherneck, I'm trying to stay away from this knife because of what I've heard of the bad ergos, but, Man, it looks great in those pics. What a beautiful little knife! I really dig that heavy-duty jimping, too.
