What happens if a FedEx delivery comes and you're not home at the time? Where does it go? Do they leave it on your steps?

Hey Jazz.
It kinda depends on your neighborhood and local guy. Mine finds hiding spots and it's a pretty low-key neighborhood. Most packages sent from knife retailers aren't signature-required.
If they are you will likely get a little sticker-thingy on your door which you can sign and leave there. They will try again tomorrow and leave the package if you note it being ok.
Otherwise you might be able to track down the main sorting center as often they deliver to a local outlet.
What you DON'T want to do is order something USPS and accidentally enter the wrong zip code. Regardless of any expected logic of addresses the package will be re-routed about a dozen times until it's finally sent back to the sender with a fee. The you have to pay again.

Depends, the person shipping it has the option to request a signature. I imagine they would leave a note though. You can always call them and find out if a package was delivered or attempted.

I believe FedEx will try to deliver 3 times before they leave it at the local FedEx office for you to pick up.
Also, they used to leave a form that says, "If you want the delivery guy to leave the package without your signature, sign here __________." It has instructions for you to leave it on your door or whatever.
Thanks, guys. It's a bigger package - kayak racks for the garage.
- best wishes, Jazz.
No 3 deliveries in Canada I think, I've had fedex packages either left at door and pick up at local office, this is in a suburban setting.
Hey Jazz, did you get your kayak rack delivery.
They missed me of course - who's at home in the day? Hopefully today here at work. We'll see.
- best wishes, Jazz.
No doubt, I have all of my Spyderco knives delivered to my office. I had a box with a T-Shirt fed-exed
to my house once and they set it by the door or somewhere and we didn't see it until the next day
and the dogs were tossing it up in the air and wrestling over it. Fortunately, they hadn't bitten thru
the box enough to tear the shirt.
They "said" they were at the restaurant today, but I saw no one!! Get the runaround again... Then my wife finds a note saying I can pick it up between certain hours at a FedEx place. They have a place. Why not tell me yesterday? Whatever... I got the package after knocking on doors and catching a driver as he drove up. I don't like couriers - I like mail.
- best wishes, Jazz.
I had a package that was delivered UPS once and they came on Saturday to my office. Most
office's aren't open on Saturday, so I am not sure why they tried. I had an email sent that
said that they would try agian or I could pick it up at the post office. I called the closest
post Office and they said it was there and what did I want to do. I was there in about
5 minutes, not taking any more chances.
I believe that there was a Yo2 in the package.
1. Ok. If it has a SHIPPER"S RELEASE they can leave it WITHOUT signature.
They mean the Shipper guarantees to cover loss to receiptant.
UPS and FED have this.
If no one is home they can try and leave with neighbors etc but they must leave a receipt letting the person know this.
If not it goes back with driver to depot, after 3 deliveries, it may go back or they hold for PU at depot.
If you know you won't be home, do a HOLD FOR PU. You can pick it up yourself or ask for another attempt if you know you will be home.

I once had something the sender sent by FedEx. A note was left on my apartment door that they tried to deliver, but I wasn't home, management wouldn't sign for it, so they took the package back with them.
I found a phone number in the note, called it, found that the package was at the main FedEx distribution center for the area, I asked for and got directions to the center along with their hours of operation, told them to hold onto it, left my apartment, jumped into my vehicle, and drove straight over to the center to pick up the package.
The management for the apartment I was living at during this time would not accept USPS, UPS, or FedEx for its residents... it used to... until one resident messed it up for everyone and management refused to accept any more packages on behalf of the residents from that point on.
Other apartments I've lived at would accept USPS, UPS, and FedEx packages for its residents... this is now one of the standards I use for deciding which apartment complex I choose to call "home."
