    Question Fake Poliwog?

    http://www.ebay.com/itm/Spyderco-Pol...item48453b6e6f

I just want to make sure my eyes aren't fooling me. The script on the ricasso looks wrong, as well as the bolt used to hold down the wire clip. Also, no box has me worried. If you guys think it is fake, go ahead and report it - I will too.

Well, the knife sold quickly; it's not an issue anymore. With all of the Chinese fakes on the 'bay lately, one can never be too careful.

It didin't look fake to me, it was a used knife so the screw could of been changed, markings all looked legit to me? The poliwog is not a design I would think people would be copying.

Appears to be real. There have been a ton of fake Poliwogs on eBay, but all the ones I've seen use a rod with rounded ends, rather than a ball bearing as the lock.

After checking out a few more from sellers I know and trust, I have come to the realization that the Poliwog was real. This is a case of being instantly suspicious about no box included, maybe too much so (at least in this case), combined with Spyderco catalog photos that don't match up 100% with the actual production knife. In the catalog shots, the screw holding the clip is flat and not barrel-shaped, as well as the engraving on the ricasso being totally different. Knowing that this is currently one of the most copied designs on the 'bay also raises the BS detector. Thanks for the education Deacon.

Catalog pictures are not always 100% accurate as most of the time thet are prototypes.
We would rather be the knife in your pocket, because is "works" better, than the knife in your showcase, because it "looks" better.
