Spyderco manix 2 translucent blue questions

so i just impulsively ordered a manix 2 with blue translucent handles because of the lock and the weight for the size.

i didn't think to ask questions lol... is the lock strong? and reliable? i work in a grocery store and i use my knife to cut tape on boxes and think plastic ties will this knife do fine?

also i noticed this is pin construction witch id never usually but but i didn't realize at the time, does it hold up or will it come loose on me?

I own the said knife and I say it has been perfect. The lock so far has been 100% reliable for me, no failures. weight=very light. Also the ergonomics are great, it feels awesome in the hand. For your needs and purpose, I am sure this will be perfect for you and perhaps child's play for the Manix2. The pin construction has not been an issue for me, it should hold up just fine, I wouldn't worry too much about it. I EDC this knife every other day and use it for simple yard work and for cutting up cardboard. I am sure you will have fun with this knife, don't sweat it, you made a good purchase, I know I did.

For a loooong time, Spyderco only used pinned construction and too good effect. The ltwt Manix should perform just fine -and better- for the tasks you described. Do share your impressions once you get it and use it on the job.

I like the translucent blue Manix, its feel is a good bit different than the other Manixs, not better or worse, just different.
Quite light and IMHO very nice looking.

I think you will find it suitable for the tasks you mentioned and I doubt you will have any problems.

My daughter got me one for Christmas, and I am quite impressed by the size of blade compared to the weight. Outstanding everyday carry. Ease of sharpening is great. Very reasonable priced.

Black handle and something other than BD1 steel, and I'll bite again. I sold my blue one because I didn't care for the steel.

Personally, I have never had a problem with any pinned Spyderco.

In terms of blade function (not lock or handle material), how does the Lightweight Manix compare to (say) the Tenacious? The blade length seems similar and the metals are both fairly entry-level steels. I've always liked the look of the blue Manix but just haven't been able to justify buying one when I have a beater Tenacious here that I could use.
My spydies: Squeak, Tenacious, Terzuola, D'Allara, UKPK CF peel-ply pre-production, UKPK CF smooth pre-production, UKPK G10 orange leaf-blade, UKPK FRN grey drop-point, UKPK FRN maroon leaf-blade, Bug ... all PE blades
