Is Amazon safe to buy a sharpmaker?

Hello everyone, im quite new here just joined five minutes ago and im looking to purchase a sharpmaker. Im ordering quite a few things off of amazon and i would like to order a sharpmaker too. i could order from smkw but this is easy and only one transaction. I found a few sharpmakers and for some odd reason i feel they could be fake because some are only 47 dollars? and some are like 90 dollars? i will post a link but can you guys help me decide on a good one.? thanks

Yes, that looks like a reasonable deal, but I think the price moved up to $55, that's what I'm seeing.

When it says "qualifies for super saver shipping" that is my queue that it is sold and shipped directly from amazon. Amazon is a very reputable dealer. It also says a little lower that it is shipped and sold by Amazon.

Now... the only time I've ever seen bad experiences with Amazon is when a store uses Amazon as a storefront. You will see, below the price, "Ships and sold by _____." Then you need to go look at their feedback score and what people are saying about them.

About 8 months ago, someone came on the forum and notified us about a dealer on Amazon that was incorrectly listing prices for many spyderco's. Like $10 for a delica. Many orders were placed, and a couple days later the dealer sent out emails that there was an error on their pricing and could not complete the deal and granted refunds.

Just be sure to buy it only when it is shipped AND sold from Amazon themselves...

To your question I would give you a definite yes, based upon my experience. Same for the diamond and ultra fine sharpening stones. I made my purchase over a year ago and was extremely satisfied with my transaction. I have yet to have a bad experience when Amazon themselves were the selling agent.

A side note on the stones. The basic Sharpmaker will give you a satisfactory edge. I will recommend the addition of the ultra fine stones, but will caution against buying the diamond stones unless you plan to re-profile a lot of edges. I purchased both at the same time as my Sharpmaker and use the ultra fine rods all the time. However, in more than a year's time, I have only used the diamond rods once. But, I guess, as the saying goes, "It's better to have them and not need them than to need them and not have them." Perhaps?

just be sure the products you order are shipped/sold by amazon so you are fully covered by their great return policies etc. you will see this marked under the In Stock logo. I noticed over the last year that amazon has started carrying a HUGE selection of Spyderco knives, a great thing because lots of folks accumulate credit/giftcards.

My experience with Amazon is that you're more likely to get a defective, or previously returned and repackaged, item from them than from a regular dealer or store, but their return policy is very generous, so the worst thing that can happen is you wind up getting the item replaced.

I bought mine from a knife dealer - but got the UF rods from Amazon - no problems at all!
I have purchased many things from Amazon with NO issues at all.
If you do have a problem - the customer service is pretty spot on from my experience.
Both my Sages came from Amazon and were better F&F than the local Spydie reseller/dealer - and MUCH better pricing!
Make sure you get the Super Saver Free Shipping - $25+ - and they ship as fast as any dealer out there even with the free shipping - IME.
