    Super Impressed with Sage4

So I just received my brand new Sage4 today. The one word that comes to mind upon close inspection of this knife is "phenomenal". I am beyond impressed with everything about this knife. The build quality is absolutely superb. The fit & finish is excellent. The feel of the knife and it's weight are perfect (for me at least). And I will be buying a couple more just to have on hand.

I had some reservations about this knife initially but every single doubt I had in my head about the Sage4 has quickly been put to rest. I have heard numerous times that the Taichung Spydercos are often considered to be the finest built , best made Spydercos. And going by my new Sage4 I am in complete agreement. To say that the Taichung shop is full of talented craftsmen is a huge understatement. Also , this is probably the best looking knife I have ever held.

So I'm done praising my new prized acquisition. Thanks to Sal and Spyderco and the Taichung shop in particular for an amazing knife that will be my partner in crime for a long while I am sure.

I can't agree more about the Sage4. I liked the feel of the Sage1 so I knew the ergonomics were great and all the other aspects have proven to be top notch as well. It opens and locks as solid as the GB and Manix2 which is saying a lot IMO. The blade still just falls when I release the lock even though it is locked solid enough that you don't expect it to pivot with such freedom. This didn't happen until I had it for a couple of weeks. I put a drop or two of Quick Release oil about every couple of days and open/closed it many many times before the movement became as free as it is now. This breaking in is normal though. Probably used more oil than necessary but I do that will all new knives (or most things that use oil).

I got mine about a month ago now and I've carried it every day since. In fact it was in my pocket before it was in my house. I took it out of the mail box and opened it immediately. AFAIK it's as perfect an EDC knife that there is for my needs. I don't need to worry about scaring anyone where I live which is nice.
    MY CURRENT EDC
Sage4: Now with black linen (micarta) scales, stonewashed blade and bolsters

Manbug (G-10): Now has camo-desert kirinite scales, ZDP-189 blade ground to a Jester-like spine, stonewashed blade and bolsters

Fenix LD01 (single AAA flashlight) clips to Manbug FOB

I too believe it will fit the bill for being a near-perfect (or completely perfect) EDC for me as well. I really like that it has a nice solid and sturdy feel. And it has some weight to it that inspires confidence. The Ironwood and Titanium combo is simply beautiful and the lock up is ultra solid and secure.

I am thrilled with this new Sage4. I just put it away for the night and already I'm having withdrawals.
