BRKT Little Creek and similar sized fixed blades

    Hey guys,

I'm guessing it happens to me the same way it does to some of you. I'll be reading through the forums and come upon a knife that I haven't heard mentioned yet, then go to Google to find more. In probably 50% of the cases, I instantly fall in love and start researching. Pictures, forums, reviews, manufacturer websites then finally the usual online stores.

This time it happened with the Bark River Little Creek. It didn't help that I'd just been plotting how I was going to make a small fixed blade EDC myself.

But before I jump on this, does anyone know of any other small fixed blades about the same style as the Little Creek?

    Thanks!

Maybe not about the same style, but there are a lot of small FB around. Depends on how much you want to spend and things like that. Boker makes a few small FB that are pretty good and are really cheap. You are mostly looking at 440C steel, but that isn't horrible, especially for $25-$60.

BM has the Aviator 211 which you can probably get for $80-$90 and is D2 steel.

The smallest Spyderco currently available is the Street Beat which has a 3.5" blade. I don't know dimensionally if it's that much bigger than the BRKT but it would be hand-filling. The Spyderco Moran is about $65 retail. In a less conventional design the Swick and SPOT knives can be found on the secondary market.

I think Sal said they have prototyped 3 different smaller FB's in VG10 but don't know where in the pipeline those reside. I'm hoping they are Delica sized or thereabouts.

If you're asking about non-Spyderco knives the world is your oyster. I would probably look at something from Benchmade like the Bonecollector Skinner since it has hardwood and a similar aesthetic (from online photos).

If Spyderco had a Delica-sized FB, I'd be all over that like a duck on white rice.

Agreed. I really think they should do a Delica and Endura Fixed Blade. G10 bolted scales.

Would be a nice camp/hike blade and the model name recognition would be HUGE.

    hey clip,
i just got this boker about a month ago, and been carrying it at work.
it's a nice little fixed blade for what i paid.
so far it's kept it's edge pretty well and been very useful to me.
the kydex sheath fits the knife really well also.
seems to be about the same size as the bark river you mentioned.
also, the handle is really ergonomic for my small sized hands.
plus, it's designed by someone who has a colaboration in the works with spyderco, tom krein.
    here's a pic beside my d4.

    later,

Guilty! I'd have a lot less knives if I didn't have an internet connection lol.

A couple knives I have in that size are from Blind Horse Knives - the Woodsman and the BushBaby - scandi grind (it's available in full flat grind also). I am pretty happy with the feel of both, good fit and finish too. Of course there is also the ESEE Izula II. There's just too many knives I like, I guess .

You might consider taking a look at some of the other knives that Bark River has to offer. They have a rather wide selection to choose from.

I had a Little Creek a few years ago but for me it was just a little bit too small. It was very well made though and I think that you would like it if that is the size and style of knife you want.

These days I carry a Bark River City Knife occasionally and the size and style of it are more to my liking. Still a small knife but it's more robust than the Little Creek. I don't own an Essential but that one looks good to me as well.

I really like the look and especially the blade steel of the Essential, but that silly grove in the blade puts me off it.
