I have been questing for an inexpensive 44DD if someone knows someone.

I started with Streamlight Microstream for my EDC pouch. It was a hair too wide in diameter to fit into my Leatherman pouch so went searching. I was fortunate enough to find someone on the EDCforum that recommended a China made flashlight from http://www.cnqualitygoods.com/. The specific light was a AAA with a very small diameter (smaller than the 14mm of the Microstream) at 11mm.

Behold the CGQ-S1. Comparing to the Microstream.

$15 USD, 80 lumen, SS construction. Ric is super nice and great shipping from China. I'm not usually a China guy, but it had everything I needed (size) and a reasonable price.

I also wear a Nano on my keychain and have a Spotlight Speck in route for a neck light.

I do kind of dig the new 47 Preon 0. I like the glow reflector. I also like the DQG-III. Both around $30 USD.

Cool light Thanks for the recommendation.

I have the DQG-III and it's quite nice but seems to only work well with Eneloop AAA's. I think with a tiny magnet I could get Alkalines or Energizer L92's to work.

I gave the Preon 0 as a gift to my Dad. It's a nice little light and the glow-in-the-dark head is pretty fun. Without a reflector it throws a pretty wide spill and at 25 lumens it's not a jogging light though. The DQG while not a throw-light is much better that way. Of course the Preon 1/2 is a champ too.

What exactly is an Eneloop AAA? Is it a brand or something special?

Exactly. It's a Ni-Mh (Nickle Metal Hydride) rechargeable battery brand available in AA or AAA. Unlike older models, and many current Ni-Mh batteries, they don't self-discharge nearly at all and can take very a heavy draw. Great for all lights you can run AA or AAA voltage with.

In this case the only real advantage is the positive nipple is like half a mm taller and connects with the head properly. I gotta give 4Sevens kudos for a consistent product in comparison.
