That makes two of us. I cannot wait. The knife certainly will be highlight of the year.

Spyderco 2012 Prototype – Pekka Tuominen Puukko

The Puukko was also shown as a production prototype for 2012. It looked the same to me as it did last year, but this time the proto came with a sheath. It’s been a while since I handled a leather sheath for a fixed blade, but this ‘dangler’ design seemed very well made to me. When handling the knife I was struck by the relative thickness of the spine. The zero ground edge was sharp and, in fact, tough for me to capture ‘head on’ on camera.

The Puukko came along with a nice surprise…….a high tech folding Puukko, the Nilakka – also by Pekka Tuominen!

The Puukko folder is very nice!! The G10 is very nicely textured, it has an very smooth action, the knife really flies open, its almost like an assisted. Its very nice in the hand. But what I liked the most was the clip, it has a very nice stainless deep carry clip. Sweet knife which I will certainly get!!!

Yeps, The Tuff was there, fotos will follow by Mr Blonde. The Tuff is nice!! Lets wait a little on the pictures to give some comment. There where will be some other very sweet knives going in production. It will be a Knifetastic spyderco year thats for sure. But I' m not going to spoil the fun of discovering the fotos Wouter will post in the coming days

Scales on the Air are glass fiber, I believe, not CF.

Thanks for the excellent pics. Definitely gives a better "feel" for the knives than the little pics they have in the catalog.

Can't wait to see the new Chaparral...

The Nilakka is interesting but something needs done with that liner...waaaaaay too much raw steel showing.

Nilakka looks interesting and I am glad to see G10 in finish different than peel-ply.
I like Carpenter handle, but blade looks little plain for me. Still I would love to see real thing.

I also can't imagine that sharp edge at the bottom of the other scale feeling super-sexy in the hand if your grip shifts wrong during use. Looks like a sweet concept piece, though!

Is it just me, or does that diamond-shaped handle seem like the perfect place to put a ball bearing lock?

If I remember correctly. the G10 is bead blasted to get this finish in stead of the peel-ply finish. It grippy and very nice to the touch, its like the grain you feel in some wooden scales.

Thank you for posting your wonderful pics, Wouter!
Waiting for this thread makes me feel like a kid before Christmas.

I really look forward to the Native 5, preordered it a while ago.
