I hate buying foreign made and assembled knives, for no other reason other than I just prefer to support my home country. I think I will need to make an exception to my "rule" with this knife. I was on Brad Southard's waiting list to get a custom, but it did not work out. So, now it looks like I may be able to get one of his amazing designs at a reasonable price (hopefully).

    Spyderco 2012 Prototype – Caly 3.5 – ZDP/CF

I am very happy to see the Caly 3.5 model expanding into new variations! This version is exactly like the Caly 3 with the laminated ZDP 189 blade, except that it’s a Caly 3.5. I noticed that the blade seemed a bit off when I tried to photograph it, and then I noticed the extreme high polish. I’m curious if this polished finish will also be used in final production. This one goes on my wishlist for sure.

That Southard flipper looks great. I'm in for one. Same with the Damascus Caly.

It has been stated that the Golden plant is already running at 100% with a probably a couple of years worth of production already planned. So if you want more knives, they have to be made elsewhere...and IMO Taiwan is making the best Spydercos these days.

This. Plus, Golden is expanding, but many of the machines they have to buy are built when ordered and have a large lag time before they can ship.

But I have a Lil Matrriarch on pre-order, so it can't be a concept.

Eric explained that the stop pin actually pushes into the blade, resulting in a tight lock-up.

The "stealth" moniker makes sense now. While not black, the geometric angles are very reminiscent of the stealth bomber.

That Southard looks pretty cool... Blade length might be a legal issue in my location, though... Have to wait and see for official specs though, I suppose...

I'm just not going to ruin the Amsterdam Meets by taking a guess at which models I can post or not. Eric gave me a list and I took pictures of all knives with their corresponding tags to doublecheck. From that, I gathered that the Li'l Matriarch is a concept model. I'll definitely check it with Sal and Eric at the IWA show later this week. Untill then, I'm not taking any chances.

As I understand it, a concept model is not just a 'let's see if we will make it' model. Other factors come into play as well; a long lag time until production is one of them.
