I do agree. That is one thing that I would love to change. Get rid of that f_ _ _ing cut out. Like I said in another thread...people who like it can have it modded in. Those of us that really wish it wasn't there, can't add material back!!!

But Wouter...love the pics, love this thread so much...and also hate it a bit as I watch money just fly away.

I think it looks cool. Prob helps a bit with opening being such a slim design. Shrug.

I'm sure there must some purpose to having it, as it doesn't make much sense to add the cut out only for the sake of having a cut out. Just because we don't understand a design element doesn't mean there's no reason for it.

Just looks like it makes the hole a little bit more exposed...but in this kind of knife...who cares. I say make the knife looks nicer and loose the cut out. If you need fast deployment this kind of knife isn't the right fit any way. Neither is it made to be used with gloves on or anything like that.

And like I said...those that want it, seems there are lots of customizers that do a nice job of it. Even if this were a 2 hand opening knife it would be be completely perfect and great IMO.

It's possible the detent makes it tough to open without the cut-out with such a light blade. It's all speculation as we don't know the design concept, technical revisions or have held the final product.

I'm itching to see what will be posted in the upcoming days. It's tortuous because of the rationed pics but always exhilarating. Mr. Blonde's photos are about as good as they get!

Possible. But I do really wish that it wasn't there.

Maybe Wouter can give us some feed back on what the detent is like etc.

I think Mr. Bradley put it there because the Air is not gonna be used as hard as the Gayle Bradley because of it's size ...

the detent makes sense to me, some small Spydercos that dont have it kinda suck while trying to open the blade.

it also looks like you have 2 choices of unlocking the liner lock too.

knife looks Awesome but wish it had a tiny clip. kinda wish it had a lanyard hole too, this could be a really cool key chain knife, maybe a little too big though?

Superb pics as usual Wouter, thanks again for sharing them with us.

I agree with Riot with regard to the cut out near the pivot. Since there is jimping at that point, my guess is that it eases access to the lock.

The Air reminds me a lot of the Des Horn, a knife I loved until I had a chance to hold one. It's missing the big thing I didn't like about the Horn, which is the shoulder on the spine of the blade... so here's knocking on wood that this one'll be better.

There was an FRN Native at the meet, a very nice model - it reminded me a lot of the lightweight Manix 2. Alas, according to my info it was still a concept model so I can't show it.
