Try the same thing with phone book paper or newsprint. Once you can push cut through that, try it with toilet paper. Then go whittle some hair and pat yourself on the back.

that looks so sharp i think i cut myself just looking at it.
i finally got a knife to whittle hair. took a lot of trial and error, but it was so satisfying to finally achieve that goal.

Toilet/tissue paper is strange stuff. Whether you can cleanly push cut through it depends on a lot of factors, not just the sharpness of your edge. TP doesn't like toothy edges at all, which causes the edge to hang on the thin fibers, causing the paper to tear. Some brands of TP contain more recycled materials that others, which makes their consistency much more uneven - again, possibly causing catching and tears.
