They bug me. I have a couple nice ones (relatively) but I use the cell phone for checking time.

Next time they ask you why you wouldn't wear a watch indicating it's not "manly" calmly mention neither do boxers, mma fighters, ninjas, and bear wrestlers.

I don't think I have ever heard anyone around me say that a watch makes a man ... or lack of a watch is any less manly. But in a professional environment having a decent tie or cuff-links or watch ... is appreciated by your fellow workers. Just as women might feel under-dressed if she went out to work in an office without wearing make-up or ear rings, a watch is just an item of jewelry or an accessory that looks good on a man.

No wristwatch my phone doubles as a pocket watch. I also like pocket watches but I don't carry them often. I like the ones you have to wind yourself. I don't like stuff on my wrist I don't wear rings and no necklaces or chains either. Sometimes I do wear a neck knife

I find that not wearing a watch has a little freedom in it... just me though. If I wear one I feel like I am constantly micro-managing my time.

imho, a wristwatch isn't so much of a time piece now,
than it is a piece of bling to denote standing in the chain of command...
a watch is like a necktie in corporate.
it subconsciously ties down da "free" man inside.

Well now that's not a manly thing to say. For that matter, neither is what I just said. Now I don't know what to do. Does anyone know what time it is.

Men who wear watches spend time waiting for those who don't. Just my experience. I wear a $50 field watch all the time except when I'm working around machinery or some place else it might get hung up.

I don't wear a watch but as much as I hate to admit it, I am intrigued by some of the photos I have seen on various forums. There are some really nice watches out there!

I wouldn't mind getting myself a nice watch to wear on ocassion but I'm afraid that if I do, I will get addicted to them.

Truth is, I really don't need a watch. I haven't worn one for at least 30 years yet I am one of those people that always shows up early. If there is somewhere I need to be at a certain time I use one of my vehicles to get there. They are both equipped with clocks. My house has a clock in almost every room and clocks are all over the place at work. There's even a bell that sounds at break time.

If I ever did get myself a watch it would be because they fascinate me, not because I need one.

I wear watch daily but just started it... I'm 32 so I'm not young but just recently had a change of heart.... Why you ask... I'm in the opinion that while not so much a manly thing it's more of a classy thing....

Growing up my mom always told me three thing a gentleman should carry: 1. Watch 2 belt 3. Handkerchief/ pocket square... I interpreted this as things that women like when men carry them bc it shows class... These 3 things are in my edc...

Other items ALWAYS in my EDC include: knife, keys (organized and not a messy chain), chapfix Chapstick, pocket notebook/pen, iPhone, wallet, small flashlight...

I wear a watch. Seems every time I honestly do need to know the time, it's not displayed all around me for me to take a look at.

I've yet to find a cell or so-called Smartphone that could tell time with any degree of accuracy even approaching the cheapest automatic watch I've ever owned. And I've owned everything from basic cellphones to advanced Smartphones. Gotten to the point where I've realized that unless an individual is a businessman or works at a place where you're On-Call, a cellphone isn't even necessary except for use in an emergency.

Bad news? Someone other than you having an emergency? . . . Bad news can wait until I come home and check my answering machine. An emergency that someone else is having, that would be the time for them to call 911; not to call me. I might be too far away. If there's a burglar, well; I don't have access to a firearm living in NYC. But the police officers who will be responding to the call, they have some. I'm certified in CPR. The EMTs who arrive can do a far better job in a medical emergency than I could.

I still wear a watch because at the simple turn of the wrist, I can instantly know the correct time. I don't have to go digging in my pants to pull out a cellphone whose battery might be dead because I forgot to charge it last night or because I got bored and decided to use up the charge playing some silly game on it.

And yes, it does look a bit odd when a man is walking down the street, and both of his wrists are naked.

I've gotten back into wearing my watch after years of not wearing one, worried about scratching it, breaking it, had a cell phone ect. Now that I wear it I don't work or many outside activities without it but that's me.
I think these "manly me" who are giving you flack for not wearing a watch may not carry a knife, or will say "oh that ones big..." its far more important someone has a blade vs everyone having a watch, unless you doing a bank job... then you need both *synchronizes watch*

I've worn a watch since I was about 7years old, when I saved up my allowance to buy my own in 1979. It was a little wind up with an astronaut for the seconds hand. When my grandfather died in 1982, I was given his old pocket watch(still works) and would like to give it my son my watch when I pass on. I wear an automatic and feel naked without it on my wrist. It's one of the things I always have on me and always will. While I like my cel phone, it's not much more than a toy(I wrecked a Blackberry I left in my pocket during a house fire) and two days after buying it, it was pretty much already obsolete while my watch was cheaper and will likely last my lifetime.
