CUSTOM Spyderco Phoenix, White Micarta Scales (DELETE)

Hey guys, This is my first post and Most likely not my last. I just wanted to share something with everyone. Now this is a touchy subject...I had this idea of customizing my Phoenix with Micarta scales to a perfect blend of Machine vs Nature. So I sought out to find the Perfect Wood. I found a guy who makes Acoustic/electric guitars with superb craftsmanship and had some Birds Eye Maple laying around. We decided to give it a go and I will post the progress pictures as we get closer to the finished product. I am in love with this idea (this is my daily carry.) I hope you guys dont take offense that I did this, but I became obsessed with the idea years back. So here it goes....

Not offended at all. I want to see it done! Maybe you could put it in the "Show your mods" thread, too.

    hey shlee,
there's nothing wrong with modding a spyderco, lots of us have done it.
there's no better feeling than making an already special knife personally yours.
i love the look of birds eye maple on a guitar, and it should look great on your pheonix.
what kind of finish are you going with after you get the scales completed?
post some pics when you're done.
can't wait to see how it turns out.
    later,

I plan on tearing my Phoenix apart as well and rebuilding it into something even better. Welcome to the forums and I look forward to seeing your project progress!

It will be cool to see how it comes out. I have always felt like it would be great to just soften my phoenix, seems to be sharp and pointy in all the wrong places. i love the look of this knife but the F/F could have been a lot better.

THIS looks beautiful! I really cant wait until the finish is set. Im so surprised why they would never consider integrating scales like this for the Phoenix or any other model for that matter!

Looks very nice! I took my plastic sticker off the Ti and it's a little scratched up now. Shame Spyderco didn't treat it somehow like the Sage2.

Wood looks great after you polished it up.
