I tend to carry my G-10 DF, Urban, or Chaparral a lot and any of those is able to handle almost any task thrown their way.

I carry only a Dragonfly 2 G10 occasionally and it does a great job, awesome little big knife. This isn't really a challenge, it's more about carrying what's appropriate for the environment.

I'll do what I can. I don't have a Ladybug, Manbug or Jester and I'd feel weird using a Kiwi for everything, so I'll use a CF SS Cricket. Like others, I won't leave behind my normal compliment, but I'll try to use only the Cricket.

At first, I said, "I can't/won't do that", but one of the big things I took from a rifle training class last fall was "Don't tell me what you can't do; show me what you can." That adage has so much application in life and it applies well here.

The Cricket is my fav for a small locking folder. I never bonded with the Dragonfly 2 since to me the Delica or (especially) a Salt 1 is already featherweight and, IMHO, a lot more utilitarian.

I'm just not enough of a tiny knife guy to buy a Ladybug or Manbug at this point. I realize they're blade enough for a lot of tasks, but I prefer something Delica sized anyway.

I began the challenge this morning and left behind my Military which was on the EDC schedule for the week and took only a Honey Bee with me. I felt a little naked, but pressed on anyway. First task was to cut a trailing thread from my T-shirt and the Honey Bee passed with flying colors. Just before leaving the house my wife handed me a letter she forgot from yesterday's mail and I whipped out the Honey Bee and opened the letter. The wife's reaction was, "How cute!" Not really the reaction I want being the knife man that I am.

As I'm getting in my truck to head off for work, what do I see on my lawn but my neighbor's damn dog leaving his calling card. To add insult to injury this dog has the audacity to growl at me on my property! I walk toward the dog and reached into my pocket for the Honey Bee. Once deployed the dog wised up and took off. I'm not sure and neither was the dog what the Honey Bee was going to do in that situation, but having an object in my hand seemed to relay a "danger" signal to the dog. FWIW, the neighbor now has a nice pile on his doorstep...
You can't display a toad in a fine restaurant like this! Why, the good folks here would go right off the feed!

That dog was in danger of having some serious scratches on him from the Honey Bee

@hiredgun ... that is pretty funny. I can't imagine the dog was very threatened.

I already do this quite often. I only carry bigger blades on occassion, usually a dragonfly. If i go into the woods though, I don't even bring a folder. In those instances I use an Izula unless I know I'm going to be chopping and then I bring something stouter.

I've only seen that situation in movies. I didn't know it happened to real people.

Fortunately, I can carry knives as long as I like. 4 inches seems to be the max comfortable carry for me though. I do carry a rajah 2 when I can't carry a pistol.

Carry my dragonfly almost daily and use it almost 100% of the time.

How bout the Squeak? Its barely bigger than the Ladybug...I would have no problem ditching my other blades for at least one day and using that or a Ladybug if need be...

I already carry my Ladybug for EDC. This is not solely because of personal preference, but due to the policies of my place of employment. (Technically, we are not allowed to carry any “weapons” (i.e. “knives”) on work property. Because of this, I am only able to carry the smallest of knives possible).
Your challenge is still a very good idea! I’m still amazed at how well I can cope with “just” my Ladybug.

    Good luck!

I'm proud of you - exactly what he deserved. That's something that right rankles me.

Okay, I'll play along for tomorrow. I just have to decide - PE or SE Ladybug. It's gonna get a workout with cardboard, more than likely. I'll report back.

    - best wishes, Jazz.

I just got home from work and am pleased to say that my PE VG10 Lady Bug performed admirably all day today. I had a Manix 2 with me, but didn't touch it once. The Lady Bug handled everything very well.

I strictly used my Dragonfly 2 all day today. It sliced open a bundle of paper, shrimp package from the butcher, opened up the mail, sliced open a baked potato, and sliced up a cucumber. I didn't think to take photos until I sliced up the cucumber:

Surprisingly, the Dragonfly 2 had no issues slicing through the cucumber at all

I am thinking of continuing the challenge tomorrow as well....

I actually probably use my Ladybug Salt SE more than my Delica 4 FFG PE, But I have only had these since winter (I hardly ever have work to do it the winter). Ask me again in the summer when my garden is in full swing and and there is a whole lot more that needs to be cut... then we will talk about which one gets used more.

But can you put aside the big guys and make do with a little knife? Give it a shot Chuck.

Jester holding it's own for one day. I said before and intend to use just it through the weekend but if I need the GB which I'll carry also I'll note why I didn't use the Jester.

Smaller knives have been getting a little attention lately including exotic steel. If a Jester shows up in M4 it may have to be my third Jester. Can a Seki-City knife have M4?
