Super Blue Lover
For some reason, this is just not working for me. Am I the only one that thinks the black hardware was an odd choice?
So many knives, so few pockets...

While I do agree on the black hardware after seeing the actual knife and how much the wood differs from above, it does look better.

I hadn't thought about the screws. It boils down to do you want the screws hidded or used as part of the appearance. On this knife the screw on the bolster and pivot screw would need to be silver and leave the screws on the scales alone. That would make them blend in to the knife more without drawing attention to themselves. I'm looking at mine and like the way the black screws stand out on the bolster. But, I have no imagination. I can't accurately picture the knife with silver screws unless I'm looking at it. Most products that are meant to be beautiful have the screws, nails, etc. hidden. Like furniture. Screws are covered with wooden plugs, putty then stained, etc. So, even though this isn't a deal breaker for me at all, it is something to consider and I'm sure Spyderco considered it then made a decision.
I wonder. Is there somewhere you can get replacement screws of different material or color with the same specs as the ones in Spyderco knives? Are the screws made special for each knife or are the knives make to match already in production screws? I imagine it's the second option. The main problem would be the length of replacement screws. With care you can cut bolts without messing up the threads where it is cut. I've never had to cut a bolt as short as these though.

MY CURRENT EDC
Sage4: Now with black linen (micarta) scales, stonewashed blade and bolsters
Chaparral 2
Manbug (G-10): Now has desert-camo kirinite scales, ZDP-189 blade ground to a Jester-like spine, stonewashed blade and bolsters
Fenix LD01 (single AAA flashlight) clips to Manbug FOB
I can't stand it, but i'm thinking about buying one and having brass pins put in there instead, and at least using a matching screw for the pivot. Otherwise i love it...i'm not thrilled about where they decided to split the Ti/wood, but i do love that wood grain and i love Ti so it's a winner IMO. Down the road there's a good chance if enough of us complain they'll change the screw color (it happened on the DLC Para 2).

Seeing how it looks from 3rd parties, I WANT ONE SO BADLY. Hopefully these are still available when my monetary situation rectifies itself. Though, the price is a hard pill to swallow for S30v.
After seeing this knife in person, it doesn't even look like the same species of wood as what is pictured above (and in the catalog). I like the actual wood much better, but it's odd to me that the official picture is so far off. The picture looks more like a burled maple than desert ironwood. Oh well. The actual knife looks great - I just wonder how many people are put off by the picture.
Puzzled...I received my Sage4 and the scales do not look like Arizona Ironwood they look like a dark walnut heavy grain??? Did this knife come if various woods???
Box reads C123WDP Sage4 AL
...oops could not add pick from quick reply. Here is a pic of the wood coloring not at all like the pictures. Box marked C123WDP Sage4 AL

The prototype photo is something like maple. production is with Desert Ironwood. the owner photo above is a typical ironwood look.
It's called ironwood for a reason by the way..
