    Outdoor whittling projects?

Sometimes on hikes, I like to just find a branch and whittle away, but that's getting repetitive. Then I switched to whittling knives, and little points, but I'm trying to find something a bit more crafty, and artistic, but still easily done on a hike or campout.

I think Ken (Unit) has done a good bit of carving while on hikes, and he's posted some pretty interesting photos of what he's done.

I just started another thread on this topic to solicit ideas from others.

My boys and I go on hikes weekly and it often involves fire building and or carving. We have done a lot of projects together. I love using my knives for no good reason other than to play with them (and carving/whittling is perfect for this).

Off the top of my head, I can think of a few projects I have done.

    Knives,
    Forks,
    Spoons,
Pendants (hearts, diamonds, spades, still need to do a club)
    Caged ball,
    Chain,
    Scoops,
    Animals (birds, horses, snakes)
Wood spirits (basically an old guys face carved into the side of a stick or log...hopefully so it looks like a spirit pushing out of the wood).

    Perhaps a few other things.

I will post up photos as I find some. My stuff is pretty scattered these days...I need to get organized.

Here is a video I did a while back...I will post more in my thread

    Thanks,
    Ken (my real name)
