I have the tempurpedic bed for over twenty years, the wife loves it and I hate it........we have gone through two mattresses in 20 years and now need a third...They are costly, the company doesn't stand behind it's product as the second one we bought was defective (as in permanent sink hole after a month) Company made me jump through hoops and still did nothing about replacing it.......they were even going to send a rep. to my house to look at it...then changed their minds...and told me there was nothing they could do about it.... If I had more times on my hands I probably would have sued them.......oh FWIW They do out gas for about three months.......But the wife will buy another, $1,700+ tempur and I will grin and bear it........and wake up like I never slept, wishing I sued them years ago...lol..... IMHO there is nothing quite as good as a plain old all latex rubber mattress.....for both comfort, support,a good nights sleep, and durability.......Doc

Well we bought a Tempur-pedic Rhapsody a couple weeks ago and it arrived last Saturday so it's been a week so far with zero back pain in the morning. My wife's shoulders use to hurt on the old mattress but not now. She's getting a much better sleep. I think I'm actually getting more of a deep sleep since I wake up in the morning and don't feel tired. Even after getting up a few times in the middle of the night, twice for my daughter being sick and once for work. It's got a pretty strange smell but that was expected and it is petering out.

It's been 7 years since the last time we shopped for a mattress so when we walked into the store my jaw dropped when I saw the prices for the Tempur-pedic models but when the lady came over to help us I recognized her from high school. She ended up putting us down as family and gave us a good discount.

Thanks again David for making this thread. My back says thanks too.

I had the Tempurpedic and it didn't make it passed 5 years. Then I bought the Bob-o-Pedic and it was the same thing for a 3rd of the price. It's lasted 5+ years so far. I feel like they're the exact same thing but the cheaper one has held up longer.
...I have no knives I keep in a safe but there are one or two that don't leave the house...
