Southfork ETA, details anyone?

I tried searching for any info on the Southfork, and came up empty handed. Does anyone know when it might come out? Anyone have any prototype photos? Anything regarding the Southfork at all? I cant wait for this thing!

This fixed blade design by Phil Wilson may not look very impressive, but it is when you pick it up. The knife reminded me a lot of the Temperance fixed blade, but more of a utility and camp variant. The blade is around 5 inch long and the knife was balanced very nicely. Unfortunately, I missed most of the explanation of this model, so I’m not sure about intended materials etc….I will be keeping a close eye on the development of this design into a production model.

Hey Jabba, thanks. I wish we knew more about when to expect it! This is another one I would love to rescale in something like snakewood. I cant wait! Maybe sal can chime in if there have been any updates to the production schedule.

Sal has hinted that the design process is far from a specific count-down. Seems they have a general idea and then get a shipment in, hehe.

This is one I am really anticipating! Looks like it would be a great filet knife! Not that I catch all that many fish to clean, heh. I'm beginning to wonder if I should just go ahead and become a member of the collector's club, just to make sure I don't miss out on any of the great models coming out!

That's Wilson's signature feature so I would hope it will be as thin as the original.

Was able to see this one in June at Blade.
Of all the new knifes coming out, this one needs to match the proto.
It seemed perfect to me, #1 on my fixed blade list.

Yes, one of the reasons that Wilson's knives are so functional even with the very high wear steels he uses is that the edges are very thin, as in 0.005" thick. This allows even steels like S90 and 10V to be sharpened relatively quickly as there is very little material to remove. Of course the knife also has a very high level of cutting ability as well. If the knife didn't have this edge it really would not be a Wilson knife. The durability is very low with these edges of course, they do not respond well to abuse, but he is very clear they are cutting only, not chopping, prying, hacking, etc. .

Very nice to see a collaboration in any case, I have that exact model from him.

I hope they keep it in S90V too but only time will tell. Phil is one of very few makers to use the really high end steels. I've debated purchasing from him several times. I just don't have the cash or patience.

Compact high ride leather works for me.
(by high ride I mean non gunslinger low ride)
Already have a lot of bulky 9 way ballistic nylon (or what ever it is) and rattle hard styles that mar the knife. Just my 2.

I wouldn't mind a leather sheath like the one the original morans came with. Love cross draw too. But this would make the sheath more righthanded. Unless you carry it upside down.
