Heres some freehand V edges- My old guided sharpener had flex in the structure and gave about a degree or 2 or convex- I am matching that flatness freehand and really proud of myself . I dont need to make another guided sharpener (last one broke) but im going to any way and see how flat I can get my edges. My pics make it look more convex than it is, but I dont have a camera to reflect the lens off :/ im sure it would look close to a prime77 bevel

More freehand goodness from my 11AM sharpening urge- you know its good when you can take flash pics and not see scratches. The back bevel is around 14ish inclusive with a 26 degree microbevel- this pops a hair in half as soon as it touches

man i need to get another SD card- its so much nicer capturing the lens on the edge cause t gives a much betetr perspective on the flatness and how polished an edge is

I suggested this to one of my friends and hes gonna try it, what I said is to try putting EP tapes on the stones (caramic stones would probably work best for holding the tapes) , weps seems to be all about sharpness- not the mirror finish- so with EP tapes, why not make it both

Yea I was thinking about tapes but I don't have any of the tapes or the ceramic stones but I would like to get the ceramics and some 1 and .5 micron strops for it. The wusthof was easily popping hair , it is a 28 angle inclusive. The GB is at 36 and it was easily hair whilling.

i dont think it gets much sharper than that, as soon as the edge made contact with a hair, it severed and fell silently otherwise known as HHT#5

About 10 degrees per side. Should be interesting to see how it holds up.
