Just finished my SS Endura Aus-6 on the Sharpmaker

I guess I'm going to have to buy those ultra fine stones after all.

UF stones get a decent mirror edge on the SM as long as you take your time going from med,fine, and UF. I hope to get a strop soon to add to my mirrored edges and already hair whittling sharpness

This subcom was done using only Spyderco medium, fine, ultra fine stones then stropped with DMT pastes on leather.

Ever thought to try this:

Sharpen your 15 degree backbevel to a mirror
put a microbevel of 2 strokes a side with Medium rods in the 40 slots
strop 10 a side on cereal box.
feel your stuuuupid sharp edge and cut something

I have turned polished edge addicts into fans of this type of edge .

So far I have only mirrored my Ambitious, SS Endura, and SAge 3 basically just doing my 30 deg inclusive back bevel finishing with the UF SM stones and then the micro bevel 40 deg inclusive with the UF SM stones as well. so you say just mirror the back bevel 30 deg inclusive and then do literally 2 strokes a side on the medium (grey) SM stone. Then just finish with a cereal box strop?

I plan on leaving my other spydies with the factory back bevel and then just finish the micro bevel with my UF SM stones. I was thinking of leaving a medium edge on one of them for a more durable working edge........

yeah, just 30 mirror back, and 40 medium edge, cutting ability is really increased. you only need to strop 5 times p/side in the cardboard. Ive course, a real strop works better

You know I've tried a 22 degree inclusive with 600 grit finish on my ZDP Endura Trav, you didn't pay it no mind then. Please don't act proprietary about a coarse edge.

It was probably Ankerson's posts that made you notice a coarse edge's performance.

Besides, I still like the way a polished edge cuts when it whispers through the media.

Only thing I follow from ankerson is teh steel ranking . It took experimentation to figure it ..............btw, what was the endura like?
Edit: I MEAN NO OFFENSE, Honestly, I knew jack-all about sharpening when you told me about the endura. Im far from expert, I just love spreading the love for a coarse edge

I'm also a fan of how a polished edge cuts. My opinion is that the slicing motion will ruin your ability to do fine cutting.

You just need to know how to use the edge and what it is good at.

In all fairness, I still think you're a steel noob. Not that I know a ton.

thanks! i really like it. it cuts aggressively but slices through stuff easily. after using it for a while i stropped it on one of those magazine inserts. cuts real well

thanks! i just started with it at the end of october last year and have sharpened pretty much all the knives that my parents and i use, im only 14 so that is great!

Nice one Maa! Gratz! I can't even dream of doing that on the SM.
