Probably getting his internet connected. Sometimes that takes time.
Or maybe he sold all his knives and took up knitting![]()

he's OK, i think he the internet within a day of moving. as for the knitting, that is true, he is making lil different colored socks for each kiwi to match the handle material and then he will hang them throughout his new house![]()
Been here, at least a little, every day, but perhaps not so much the last day or two, as I was looking for a different type of toy yesterday, and playing with it a bit today.Went to look at scooters, wound up buying this...
... 2009 Honda 750 Shadow Spirt "leftover". First bike I've had in nearly twenty years, and the biggest I've ridden in more than thirty, so it's taking me a bit to get back into the swing of riding, especially at low speed, but it's a blast once I get moving.
For the record, Tony, I use to be a pretty good knitter years ago and have thought of taking up knitting again, but haven't done so yet. Kiwi socks sound kind of cool. Might have to try that.![]()

just out of curiosity deacon where are you located in south carolina? i am in myrtle beach!
Thanks for the thoughts everyone. Tony, I have some Spyderco stickers, may put one on the windshield I ordered once it arrives. Plenty of back roads around here and even a few I'm familiar enough with to ride without a GPS.
For those interested, my stuff arrived about a week after I did. Almost all of it got here safely. Still can't quite figure why the fragile stuff made it here fine, and my exercise bike got bent and broken, but far better that than the other way around. Unpacking hasn't taken as long as I though, and is just about complete aside from my knife and movie collections, which are both still pretty much still boxed up. That's mostly because I'm having a hard time deciding which cabinets and bookcases to put where. Computer room is pretty much the way I want it, as are my bedroom, the kitchen, and the laundry. Living room and dining room, on the other hand, are pretty much barren. Just curio cabinets, TV, and a recliner in the living room and my postage stamp size dining set in the dining room. They'll probably remain that way for at least another couple months too, now that I went out and bought the bike.Really enjoying the house, and the area.
I'm pretty much at the other end of the state, in the Greenville area.

I just pictured how many spydies you sacrificed to purchase that bike!
It looks nice for a honda.![]()
Very nice, Deacon!
I am envious... Smokys one way, Blue Ridge Parkway the other...we won't be seeing much of you anymore...
Paul,
Beautiful bike. Congrats. I am just jealous.![]()

Wow Deacon!!
You really enjoying your retirement days, eh?congrats, that's a nice pearl white Shadow.. I like it!
As a fellow Honda rider myself, i guarantee she'll give you years and years of sweet rides... these things just don't break.
I hope ( I know) you are not one of those guys, who ride wearing flipflops, shorts and a t-shirt? imho that would be pushing ones luck too far.. me; ATGATT. Sometimes, when it's hot I use lighter off-road protection gear, but still use them. Always.
as for the knife, a Spyderco Renegade or a Spyderco Blackhawk is a must for a lowrider biker
I wish you many happy and safe miles with the bike.

Nice looking bike Paul. This week we have the fortune to have a 1988 Shadow 1100 on loan from a friend of my wife. Its a great bike and much bigger than our Savage 650. Have fun riding and be safe. Hope you're wearing a helmet.

Sad fact is, that given how few new midlocks with 50/50 choils Spyderco has in the pipeline, and how few without those features I purchase anymore, I don't think the bike will slow down my knife buying.
As for the bike, I agree, looks were definitely one of the attractions.
Both sound great, but I'lll probably stick with some of the more local SC State Parks for a while. Don't know my way around here well enough for even that yet, but I do have a handlebar mount for my GPS coming.I'm sure I'll head for Blue Ridge Parkway one of these days, probably the Smokey Mountains too.
So far it's been either a Stretch, if I'm sure I'll be staying outside of Greenville's city limits, or the Chaparral if I'm going there or think there's a chance I might.
Thanks. Reliability is one of the reasons I bought it. I wanted to ride, not tinker so it came down to Honda or BMW and the BMW's of today are just too, big, too expensive, and too "sports bike" looking for me.
So far, except for today when it was 65º and cloudy and I added a denim jacket, it's been hiking boots, jeans, a t-shirt and a helmet. Granted, it's a choice between a rock and a hard place, but heat stroke from being stopped at a traffic light for two or three minutes in the blazing sun when it's 90º or more and the humidity is hovering around 90% while wearing a jacket is at least as real a threat as gravel rash is if you don't wear one.
As for knives, thinking more of either Street Beat in a boot sheath, or something slender and Italian.![]()
Have fun! And yes, I do wear my helmet religiously. This old brain is scrambled enough.
