    pic request valloton tip picture

Can someone do a close up on the grind of the valloton tip. Maybe next to the lum tanto. Just curious how they compare.

Here is the best I could do right now. Vallotton on left, original Lum Tanto folder on right. The tip grinds are totally different. I don't know how to accurately describe the edges, but here is a picture...

So basically the whole vallotton is hollow ground and the tip is flat ground where as the lum is hamaguri ground on the tip. Can you try and take a pick from on top to see the thickness of each tip. Thanks for the comparison. I thought they were more similar. I'm glad I got the lum sprint. I think the vallotton will be in my stable soon

Sure. Here is a view of the top of the spines. The Lum and Vallotton have very similar tapers toward the tips. But the Vallotton's blade is incredibly thick!

Vallotton on left, Lum Tanto on right...

So in the end if one couldn't find an actual lum the vallotton wouldn't be a bad compromise. I plan on getting a vallotton anyway I was just curious. Looks like the vallotton might have a tougher tip. Thanks for the pics.

I wouldn't say the Vallotton is a substitute for the Lum. The Vallotton is very nice, but it's thick, wide, chunky and heavy. The Lum is light and slim. They're very different knives.

Definitely get both if at all possible.

I just meant blade grind wise. I already have my lum. Hoping to get a backup because this one will get used. A vallotton is in the cards too. I just hope I get the job I applied for so I can live a little better. Then I can buy more of what I want and need
