I'm sure there is a case for everything and half of those have exaggerated testemonials. Still, I guess life or death you gotta do what you gotta do.

Given the average person can't even throw a decent punch on a stationary person the idea of man vs animal is pretty risky.

Well, that big cat was focused on something other than the person with the knife too. Your chances of surviving that attack if the cat had bit YOU in the face are much worse. With bear, you're better off picking up a big tree branch in each arm and pretending to be as big and intimidating as you can and hope to scare the bear off. If that fails, you're probably dead or severely injured with the first attack if it's a large bear, in which case you're gonna be lucky to even think straight enough to either stab the bear or think to play dead. I really think that the majority of survivors of bear attacks only survive because the bear just lost interest and wasn't hungry enough to kill and eat them. Ask Timothy Treadwell how this sort of thing turns out.

Sometimes bears will bluff charge you and if you stand your ground during a bluff charge they might do it a few more times but will probably eventually leave. If it's not a bluff charge and it's a grizzly you hit the ground in the fetal position and don't move or make a sound. If it's a black bear and it's not a bluff charge use what you got to fight it....rocks, hands, knives, etc. You go for the head/eyes obviously. If you run you have chosen the absolute dumbest idea of them all as a bear can even out run the fastest humans.....running sideways. When you run you are basically putting a sign on your head that says dinner.....and dinner IS happening.
+1 With a grizz, don't forget to lace your fingers behind your neck when you go fetal to protect your neck. A grizz attack is usually territorial. If a black bear attacks a human, it's generally looking for dinner. Go fetal in that case and you just make it easier for it. Fight like hell.

All I am saying is that we should not pass judgement. True, if I was a tiger and if I was hunting someone, I would make sure that I go for a surprise attack, perhaps the throat.

You do realize that, with posts like these, you only show how useless you are in this forum, don't you?

The answer to the question on what is the best survival folder has already been answered a few times within this thread, and that is the one that you have on you.

Of course, the majority of people that are going into the woods for a hike, you will be taking a fixed blade along with a folder for smaller chores. But no one can simply be toting a Schempp Rock along when they go to wallymart.....

Well excuuuuuuuuse me. I was unaware that you were appointed Keeper of Relevancy.
Perhaps everyone should contact you to make sure that their posts meet with your approval.
I now realize that I should. Maybe I should contact you before speaking in public, I may well
be totally useless in that endeavor, as well.

Thank you for enlightening me. I have learned something today. Seriously, I have.

You're welcome....glad to hear that we won't be hearing incoherent ramblings like your last post.

I did, however, mean to say that your previous post was completely useless in this thread, bud, not that you(yourself) are useless, Lol.

Everyone on this forum deserves to be here and contributes. If judged for each response none of us would last very long.

I would sure as Hell be gone in about a week.

That was a pretty horsecrap line. Don't skirt the issue, just say you're sorry. If you aren't sorry, don't fuel a pissing contest.

Military CF handles to save weight. Any of the Millie steels would do fine. Easy to clean and I can use it to make tools for splitting etc.
