    Thou shalt not covet

    Thy co workers Spydie.
Once upon a time O bought two orange Ladybugs, one he gave to his wife, the other he kept for himself.
Now, Mr's O, or J as she is better known works for Queensland Government Forest Products and is in the field a lot of the time, so takes her lunch to work. The little orange Spydie had the job of Lunch Box Knife, which it performed very well indeed, maybee too well. One fine day while sitting down under the trees having lunch with some fellow Forestry workers & contractors the Ladybug came out of the lunch box & cut up a tomatoe to put on some cheese & biscuits. The way it performed its job, plus it's better than average appearance caused a comment to be made on what a nice little knife it is & may I please have a look. The Lady bug was passed around for a look & feel & then went back into the lunch box. After lunch, the box in its bag went back into the FWD Toyota & all went off to their respective jobs.
That was the last time that poor little knife was seen.
Maybee the person who now has it has been bitten by the bug & has more Spydies of their own. Maybee they come & look here. Maybee if they don't need the orange Ladybug anymore they will put it back one day when the opportunity arises.

Not very nice at all.........This is the major reason why I never let anyone handle my knives...you can look....but you can't touch....Furthermore I never place a knife down anywhere and walk away from it....Learned my lesson the hard way...quick story...My best friend did a tour in Vietnam, he was killed in action...his mother gave me his zippo lighter to remember him by....it was common back then for zippo to make and giveaway lighters to soldiers with their company logo and name engraved in them at the completion of certain campaigns ...I carried this lighter for years...one cocktail party with a bunch of (get this) Psychiatrists,,, where I left my lighter on top of a pack of cigs and walked away for two minutes, and it was gone forever....still can't believe it to this day....just goes to prove that some people will sink to the lowest levels if you let them...or give them the opportunity...Sorry for your wife's loss... Maybe when it gets dull it will reappear.

Maybe have her ask around, it's easy to spot something that bright. Also mention that it's rare and that it was a matching set between you and her. It might guilt trip the person.

    Good luck, O.

Might work, especially if she phrases her inquiry diplomatically, something like "Looks like I misplaced that knife I was using the other day at lunch, might anyone have seen it?"

Maybe it was taken by mistake. It's easy to use something like a knife or lighter then sub-conciously putting it in your pocket. Then when the person finds it later may not remember where he/she got it. Like someone else here said a couple of diplomatically placed questions about it's whereabouts may produce it. I hate to think one of my friends may have taken something like that on purpose. Good luck.

Bummer, if I were her I would do some diplomatic investigating, as others mentioned. If not you could get her an H1 ladybug to replace it and maybe have her name engraved on the blade this time.

Thanks for your replies guys. I have another story for you.
A fellow forumite, one of our freinds & a bloody top bloke, read the above story & did not like the low action that it speaks of. He therefore decided to do the high & shiney act of gifting a bugundy FRN sprint run Jess Horn to J. (my wife). Do you believe it ? Such a generous & thoughtfull act puts a Spydie back into her lunch bag & re balances some of the wrongs of this world.
J, very much appreciates this kind gesture & vows to not let sticky fingers attached to grubby mits fondle this one. All the same, the name engraving suggestion will be carried out by a friend with a laser engraver.
Only on SPYDERCO forum. You have fine people on a fine site here Sal.
I am gonna buy me another Spydie to celebrate & you are all welcome to join me
    O.
