Sorry if this has been covered but I was curious if anyone could point me in the right direction on where to get the small metal files that people use to add jimping on a blade?
edit: Forgot to mention that I am really impressed with all of the mods I have seen in this thread.

I know it might seem silly to some but I am still trying to figure out a way to add a pocket clip through the lanyard hole on my ladybug or jester. I have some parts on the way but not sure if they will work.

Nothing crazy here, just a slight stealth pimp. I polished the internals on my Manix 2 for smoother operation. It's much more polished than the picture shows.

    Nice job.

Do you feel any difference when opening the knife? The Manix2 has the bearing making the amount of contact area of the tang and bearing very small. I wonder if polishing the side of a tang on a back lock would help. Maybe a little touch up on the lock bar where it touches the tang would help also. Just thinking.

    Again, nice work.

How does the lock hold with the internals polished?

The polished area around the tang wouldn't effect lock reliability or strength. When the Manix2 is locked the bearing is sitting on top of the flat spot at the top right portion of the blade/tang in the picture. You can't see if he polished that area. If it is polished it "might" make releasing the lock easier but it wouldn't make the lock less reliable IMO. The bearing is shoved between the flat spot and the metal bar on top of the knife handle. When you put force on the blade spine, that won't make the bearing squirt out, causing the blade to close even if it is polished. When you pull back on the lock buttons they pull the bearing out so if it is polished there may be less resistance, making it easier to release but I don't know for sure. All of this is just my opinion but I believe I'm right. Then again I'm no expert.

Very nice, Ryan. Did you sand at all, or just buff?

Did some tinkering with my PPT today

-Firstly I did some weight reduction on the backspacer, aka made it into swiss cheese.
-I then cut some ZT style slots into the back for more grip when getting it out of pocket
-Drilled out the pocket clip screw and tapped to a metric M3 and installed s/s glass breaker, used an M3 s/s screw, cut the head off, ground to a 4 sided point and cut to size, had to flatten a part of the scale and liner so the nut would sit flat on the clip.
-Gave the liners + blade a quick stone wash
-Re-profiled the edge to 30deg and made it crazzzy sharp

    Result-

I can feel a difference in opening, if only slightly. No difference in closing since it swings freely.

I only polished the area in which the ball bearing rides when opening, not the spot where it wedges into the tang, so I wouldn't imagine that lockup would change and I haven't noticed it.

I started with 1500 grit wet/dry, then onto 2000, then 3200. After that, I polished with some Brasso and Flitz on a Dremel polishing wheel.

Very nice work. I really like the glass breaker mod. That seems to be the biggest feature of a "rescue" knife. Some rescue knives have things about them that make them poor EDC knives. If I could add a glass breaker to a favorite EDC knife that would be very nice. Going to give this some thought.

Thanks for the kind words jack, I think a glass breaker is a great thing to have on an urban EDC knife. I had been looking at the clip screw wondering if it could break glass in a pinch, I decided I wouldn't bother waiting to find out and replace it with something that definitely will.
    It should be easy peasy to do on any knife with a similar clip arrangement, or any knife that has a meaty back spacer. In reverse grip it also gives you another business end if you will (hypothetical sd situation) and the jimping is great in reverse grip also;

Love the zip-tie mod. What may I ask is the paracord sheathing on the ties for?

I just saw it on Youtube as something that would make mine a little different and better looking; I thought the paracord looked cool around the zip tie. Actually I am glad I put them on, the zip ties I bought did not latch down tight enough on their own so this added a little bit more thickness so the zip tie wouldn't slide.

Makes sense to me. I typically like to use the smaller zip-ties for my mods and they can be installed fairly tightly. Thanks for sharing.
